Re: Does anyone have a good buttercream frosting recipe?
I have made this one a bunch of times:
House Buttercream (from the whimsical bakehouse)
Can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, tightly covered yields 9.5cups
In the bowl of an electric mixer, stir together: 6 cups confectioners sugar 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla extract
With a wisk attachment, ad and whip at low speed: 1 cup boiling water (3/4 c on hot days) Whip until smooth and cool
Add and whip until smooth: 2 3/4 cup high-ration or regular vegetable shortening 6 oz (1 1/2 sticks) slightly chilled butter, cut into 1-inch pieces
Increase te speed to medium-high. Whip until light, fluffy and doubles in volume (10 to 20 minutes)
The buttercream will almost fill a 5-qt mixing bowl.

Re: Does anyone have a good buttercream frosting recipe?
This is the recipe from Magnolia's cookbook ( i havent made it yet)
Traditional vanilla buttercream, (makes enough for 24 cupcakes)
1 cup (2sticks) unsalted butter, very soft 8 cups conf sugar 1/2 cup milk 2tsp vanila extract
Place butter in large mixing bowl. Add 4 cups of the sugar and then the milk and vanilla. Beat until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the remaining sugar, 1 cup at a time, until icing is thick enough to be of good spreading consistency (you may not need all of the sugar)Use and store at room temp. Can store in airtight container for up to 3 days

That's the recipe I use and it's delicious!!!! Not too buttery, not too sugary....just perfect!

Re: Does anyone have a good buttercream frosting recipe?
I love Buttercream, and I think I prefer it with half butter and half shortening.
