Does anyone have an eye doctor they recommend?

I will drive if they are good.

Is there even such a thing as a pediatric optometrist - or do I just take him for a regular exam with an eye doctor?

ETA: DId they have to dilate your childs pupils? Jack will freak out with this!

I took Ale to Dr Doyle in RVC. He has an excellent reputation, and I thought he was very thorough and professional, and Ale was comfortable with him.

ETA - he's an opthomologist. Do you need an optomotrist?

I don't think it really matters. Our ped wants us to get Jack's eye's checked because he noticed one eye favors one side.

Did your kids get the eye drops where they dilate the pupils?

Dr. Pinchoff in Great Neck. (1000 Northern Blvd : 516-487-0410)

My ds had to have sugery for block tear ducts at a year old and he was fantastic with him! My SIL also uses him for my nephew who had to have treatment for a "lazy eye". I'm in Levittown, it took about 20 mins or so to get there.

Re: Does anyone have an eye doctor they recommend?

we took DS back in May...the guy was good (obviously can't recommend him though). Besides looking at just whether DS needed glasses, he also looked at other things like visual perceptual skills and visual motor skills (didnt know they did that to as I do that as an OT LOL). It was cool to see how they do an eye exam on someone their age. He had DS ID different pictures, both on the wall and then from a "book", examined/looked in his eyes, gave him something to write with and had him put marks where he thought body parts should be on a person, played catch with him, and I think there were some other things too but can't remember. DS checked out fine, which I was happy about my DH, mom, dad and sister have horrible vision, so I was glad his eyes seem to be OK so far.
ETA: he does have a slight stigmatism-but the doctor said it was commom

We went here too.. thought DDs eye turned in.. and he was the most patient doctor, his office workers are patient.. and he explained everhything he was doing to us as he did it. He did dilate her pupils... overall, left his office very happy and confident in him as a ped. optomologist

Re: Does anyone have an eye doctor they recommend?

Yes, he will have to have his pupils dialted.

It wasn't bad, the worst part was waiting for them to actually dilate. But, they have a bunch of toys and books so she was occupied.
