I didn't even know they had one. Do you have a pic of it?

Are you talking about the kind that sits on the floor,is about 3 feet high and you can get them at stores like Bed Bath or PC Richards?

I find that they are not powerful enough unless you are sitting very close to them.

We have a portable Delonghi air conditioner that we purchased last summer. At first it didn't work too well. But then my DH put insulation around the exhaust tube and then it worked pretty well.

My parents also have a portable air conditioner (unsure about the brand). Theirs collects water in a drip tray. Ours is dripless but instead we have an exhaust tube going towards the window.

Both seem to do the job fairly well. Just as long as the BTUs are appropriate for the size of the room. Close the doors to the rooms if possible.

Are you talking about this? We have a Danby.

We took it from my aunt because it never worked right for her and she got a window unit. DH thought he could figure it out/fix it and has not been able to.

Mine sux, takes up too much room and I think can only work vented out a window. Why do I still have it? LOL Chat Icon

We also found them to be insanely expensive and didn't want to pay the price for one. We lived with a fan.

We had to use one of those to vent our server room at work at one point, IMO they stink. I don't know about for home use but we were trying to cool down a very small, very hot room and it did basically nothing. Plus you had to empty the water everyday.
