My niece is almost 10 months old and is in the process of going through testing b/c this may be a possibiltiy. Just wondering what to expect in terms of treatment if it is confirmed. Thanks.
Re: Does anyone have experience with infant leukemia?
I don't have any experience either ... and I am praying that the tests prove something completely innocuous so thta your family won't have any experience with it either.
Re: Does anyone have experience with infant leukemia?
My brother was diagnosed with leukemia at around 18 months. He went through chemo and radiation. That was 30 years ago though so I am sure they have more options for treatment now. Good Luck!!
Re: Does anyone have experience with infant leukemia?
A lot depends upon what the diagnoses is...
Most children have ALL...then there are 3 subtypes depending upon what they look like...or it's classified depending upon antigens.
I believe, based upon her age, she is considered high risk.
I could tell you more once you get some more information back.
It's been awhile since Ive had think about this stuff.
My eldest daughter has Down Syndrome. Children with DS are at an increased risk for Leukemia so, at one time, I was pretty well versed in it. I will probably have to double check my memory a bit though..Im sure a lot has changed since she was very small.
