Re: Does anyone here have arthritis?

Yes, I have it in my hands. At first, they thought I had rheumatoid, which is not good to have. But, it's just good old arthritis.

Symptoms (for me at least): nuckles hurting, fingers swelling, shooting pains in fingers and hands, not being able to move my fingers. Usually, these symptoms heighten in cold weather.

Re: Does anyone here have arthritis?

My Mom has osteo-arthritis....IT causes her knee swelling, pain when moving the knee and fatigue.

Rhuematoid arthritis is in the joints and is an immune disorder similiar to Lupus...Its more of a nurning pain and many people get sick with colds and such more often...

arthritis is much more then just a pain in the bone/joints illness from what my Mom has learned about it.

Theres a ton of info on line..

try doing a web MD search

Thanks so much everyone...of course I am self diagnosing myself with osteoarthritis...I've had joint pain in my knees with swelling for years...now it is moving to my left hip. I've also been very fatigued lately when I'm having the pain....I have an appt with an orthopedist in early April.

Re: Does anyone here have arthritis?

I have had mild arthritis for years. Symptoms range from swelling in joints (mostly fingers) to pain in extremeties. Just recently, I noticed that both of my index fingers are becoming misshapen and one has a noticeable difference in the bone structure. Aleve works very well for me in relieving any pain. I was using Neproxin at one time, but, didn't care for it and you need to be careful of side affects. I have seen, first hand, the toll arthritis can have on someone and how it can ravage your body. My grandmother, mother and brother were all crippled from it. The last year of my mother's life was spent in bed because it affected her spine and she was in constant pain. Unfortunately, my 25 year old daughter is now showing signs of this disease. Chances are that if any close family members have this, it will pass on. Keep on top of this and, while, there is no cure, advances in medicine can help bring relief.

Re: Does anyone here have arthritis?

I went to the doctor yesterday. I was diagnosed with chondromalacia (sp?) which is a weaking of the cartilage in the knees very common in women our age. Unfortunately it can lead to arthritis and it is not treatable except for taking advil, limiting activity that will strain the knees etc. I also got an Rx for Relafin which helps when my knees are inflamed.

So..at least I know now and wanted to share in case anyone out there is experiencing knee pain...this pain is a like a dull ache that comes and goes...and gets worse when sitting or laying in one position for too long!!
