Does anyone here not open presents in the morning on Christmas?
We're going to be at DH's mother's house on Christmas morning and they don't open presents on Christmas morning. They do it in the afternoon 
It may just be an English thing, but I really wanted pics of DS opening his Christmas presents in his PJs. We were at my parents last Christmas, so we have some from then, but he was only 5 months. This year he's much more aware of what's going on and I thought it'd be fun for him.
They do open their stockings first thing in the morning, though. So I'm going to have to get him some good things for that.
Just venting really

there were many years we didn't open our presents until the evening because my dad was working......he was a cop. We got to open our stockings, but had to wait for presents.
It made Christmas day last longer

Can he open his presents from Santa in the morning? We would open those first then the rest later. That must be torture for a little kid (or my DH) to see the presents and not be able to open them.

anyway you could get one of those huuuggee stockings, like 3 by 3, and stuff alot of toys in there, lol

As a kid growing up, I was able to play with the unwrapped gifts from Santa in the morning and was allowed to open one gift. Then we went to church, came home and had breakfast and then we would open the rest of the gifts.

My DH is a cop. Last year he got stuck working Christmas so he went in super early and was home in the early afternoon. We opened presents after he got home from work.
ETA: Considering that is not your situation I think your IL"s may need to change their tradition and let at least your DS open gifts in the morning. They can still open their presents in the afternoon if they want, but your can open his presents while they open their stocking gifts.

Sorry, but that would be a deal breaker for me. I would explain to them, how important this is for you. Christmas is about the kids, so if the adults need to change things for them, then they should.

This made me don't think I haven't thought about that!!!  But MIL is definitely not stay in your pjs all day material 
I think I'm going to have to bite my tongue this year with the hope that we won't have to be here for Christmas again for a long time! But I will do a REALLY big stocking for him though!

I'm with you!! Growing up we were tortured by having to eat breakfast first, and we weren't allowed in the living room until we were done, but not opening until the afternoon??? I think I would go crazy!!

We had to wake up, get dressed
go to church
wait for ALL the cousins to arrive
THEN open presents. I personally think that it violates the Geneva convention to make kids wait until 2/3 to open presents.
NOT TO MENTION, my cousins already got to wake up and open all their HOME presents already.
at least I am not bitter over 20 years later, right?

I agree.
We do not go ANYWHERE on Christmas. The kids come downstairs, open their presents, stay in their PJs all day long and we go NO WHERE. Christmas Day in our house is all about us as a family. Extended family sees us the days after Christmas.
