Does anyone make their own bread?
I buy my bread locally at a bakery each week but I'm thinking of getting into making it on my own.
I don't have a breadmaker, and I don't want to buy one.
Anyone have a good, basic (easy, preferably) recipe for a bread that can be used for sandwiches? I have a really great bread knife which slices bread nice and evenly.

Re: Does anyone make their own bread?
I think this one from PW is good, easy and relatively fast.
It isn't a sandwich loaf per se.. but you can slice it and make sandwiches.
This is my go to for regular whole wheat bread
Very easy and simple.

Re: Does anyone make their own bread?
Definitely start making it...it is the best thing I have ever done...I have a hand-me-down bread maker that I use, so I can't help with recipes, but there is nothing better than homemade bread! We do eat a lot more bread now, though, because it just tastes so much better!

Re: Does anyone make their own bread?
I do but I use a bread maker. The kids and I actually made a whoe wheat cinnamon raisin loaf yesterday
It is really easy with the bread maker (although I have made it without) and I like knowing what is in the bread. One of my faves is rosemary olive oil bread - I will see if I can dig up the recipe.

This is my favorite
Rosemary Olive Oil bread
This one is super easy, but I am still working on how to make it come out better using only whole wheat flour
Crusty Bread
Sorry, just realized you were looking for sandwich bread. The second recipe could probably be used for sandwiches.

I've just gotten into bread baking and sourdough bread is really nice. You have to make a starter for it, which takes about a week. After that, it's pretty easy, but you need to be patient. I've had the best results with it so far for some reason.

Re: Does anyone make their own bread?
I make our own bread. I bought a used bread machine for $12. I only use it to mix the ingredients and then place in loaf pan for second rise and baking. Definitely do it. There is a recipe that is a no rolling bread. I will see if I can find it.
Here it is. http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/no-knead-crusty-white-bread-recipe
