Does anyone own a Garmin Street Pilot GPS?
We are having tons of trouble with ours, the directions it gives are horrible. I understand it won't know all the "wrong way" signs and "one way signs" and that's fine and I like how it recalculates, but my DH was going from Mineola (Jericho Tnpk) to Woodmere and was told to take Jericho to Glen Cove Rd, hop on the Meadowbrook south to S. State west and get off at Peninsula Blvd and go south into Woodmere. To me, that's the most direct route. I told DH put the GPS on "quickest route" since I thought it would give him the same (he had written out directions earlier since we have had so much problems with the GPS system) and sure enough, it didn't want to lead him onto the Meadowbrook at all, kept telling him to get off each exit. Finally he shut it off. The thing is, he's a home inspector and a GPS would be very handy for him as he's travelling around for work. I want to get him a new one for Father's Day and everyone is telling me "Get the Garmin Nuvi, it's great but I'm nervous we'll have the same problem. We update ours everytime they email us that there's a new update, so I don't think it has anything to do with that. It could be we just got a faulty one. Unfortunately I don't have the receipt anymore, and I bought it through Amazon.com almost 3 years ago so there's really no way they'll take it back unless we want an exchange but DH is also hesitant.
Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem and/or if they had the Garmin Nuvi and what your take on that one is. Thanks.
