Does anyone pay their monthly bills on their credit card?
My credit card has cash reward points. I read in Parents magazine that to help save for DS's college I should pay all my monthly bills that I can using my credit card, than take those cash rewards and put them in savings for DS's college. Sounds like a good idea as long as I pay my credit card in full every month which I would.
just wondering if anyone else does this and how it works out? Do you pay your mortgage on their as well, or just your household bills?

I do, I pay all the household bills I can on the cc, then pay it off each month. I get points for vacations etc.
I have yet to use the points, but I figure if I can get a vacation out of it, awesome.
I don't get $ rewards for college education, but that sounds really good too.

I do, I pay all the household bills I can on the cc, then pay it off each month.
Stupid question...but how do you actually pay them? right now I have automatic payments set up for most of my bills through my bank checking account. Can you set up automatic payments on your bills using your credit card or do you just pay your bills on line each month?

You can set them up through your credit card. Like for Cablevision and my cell phone. I have it automatically charging my cc each month. I can't do it for LIPA-that is bank only.
I originally did go online evey month and pay the bills individually, but having it automatic is so much easier.
Just go to the site where your bill is, and it should have an option for charging it out of your bank account or credit card.

we do, right now its currently hooked up to a card that gives us $ off of a GM card. We used the money we earned to get a couple of thousand off of our car we bought last year.

Hi,
I pay a few things directly on to my credit card - like my cell phone bill. It's a great option because I used my "points" to buy a weber grill. As long as you pay your bill each month is it worth it

oh man, if I could pay my rent with a credit card i'd be golden!! Most of my bills dont let me use a credit card (student loans, rent etc) so I basically just use a credit card instead of cash for all the rewards i get!

Great...i think I may do this. i know the Town of Hempstead lets us pay our taxes by cc now so that should be ton of points

We pay everything we can with our credit card in order to earn points - our card of choice is the American Express Starwood Starpoint card.
We have some things set up to pay automatically and others we pay either through bill pay with the bank (mainly DH does that) or on each of the services' website.
We then pay our cc balance off in full when it's due.
I wish we could pay our mortgage on our credit card too for more points!

We pay cable that way, but we can't pay Con-ed that way. I'm not sure about Verizon--I think if I can I am going to switch it after I consolodate my bills.

i do, as we have a card that gives us miles with every dollar we spend. I use the card for everything, then transfer money from my bank into our ING. Once the bill comes, we transfer it back over and pay it!
I find moving the moving like this helps this way we do not have a "false sense" of how much we are spending.
