Does anyone plant their own flowers?
I have to confess I have a gardener - but this year I decided to plant some of my own flowers. I started with Impateins this week (hope they make it through this cold)
I am looking for some other suggestions of what to plant - I am looking for white/pinks/purples - that will flower throughout the summer....any ideas?

Petunias are colorful and pretty hardy.

Impatients will be fine - they survive anything and bloom all season. I plant them every year. I love petunias too and bagonas (sp?) - never have much luck with marigolds for some reason.

We plant impatients also. We planted petunias last year but they grew out of control so I think we're gonna just stick with the impatients. We haven't planted yet though!

Yeah petunias grow like CRAZY! they get huge!

I planted a bunch of bulbs - tulips, peonies and dahlias.
The tulips have been blooming for weeks, but the peonies and dahlias won't bloom until late summer.
I haven't planted any plants, though Al just started a garden with tomatoes and basil.

I have tulips and impatiens. My tulips looked beautiful but now they're starting to die out a bit. The impatiens haven't done much of anything yet.

i just went to the garden store and home depot this am and bought a whole bunch of flowers. i intention is to plant them myself but i might ask mom for help

Thanks ladies. I have TONS of bulbs - but they are all dying out now so I want to make sure the garden stays colorful. Maybe I will add some petunias too.

Just wanted to let you guys know I bought flowers from Home Depot last year (impatients) and they said "Locally grown" on them...and they were HORRIBLE! Didnt grow well at all. Was the worst year ever and I've been planting impatients for like 10+ years. I wont buy anything from HD tha says "locally grown" - just my thoughts...

I just came back from Prianti's and got Swan River Daisy, geraniums, Cosmos, dusty miller, dianthus, double impatiens, and some other things I can't remember.

I plant every year.
We have some perrenials, such as montauk daisies, and black-eyed susans, hydrangeas.
I like to plant Impatients,
new guinea impatiets
begonias
petunias
pansies

FYI: Home Depot guarantees all their plants/trees, if they die, they replace them (or at least that is what DH says)
