Does anyone really believe that either of the two candidates economic plan will happen?
Really, these guys can't make decisions like these. There has to be economic councils with the greatest economic minds on this together in a room, and throw away the key.
The best economic minds right now can't agree on what's what.
I don't believe either candidate has a plan that will be implemented. It will be some hybrid of many different plans.
All I know for sure is that no one is getting a tax cut except maybe the lower middle class. So we can all freak out about taxed if you make more than $250K or $5,000 health care tax credit and getting taxed on your benefits but I think none of it will happen in it's current state.
It also has to get through Congress.
Good luck to both these guys. Good luck to us.

No, of course not. The president isn't the only voice in law-making.
Sometimes I think people need to re-watch this

No, I think its ridiculous that either of them are allowed to campaign on promises that are fiscally impossible.

nothing ever happens without the approval of Congress and we all know how well they work together. so, to answer your question i dont believe for one minute either candidate can get anything through Congress unless they have an overwhelming majority of their party.

Re: Does anyone really believe that either of the two candidates economic plan will happen?
Nope. I cringe when I see "if so-and-so is President, your taxes will ___" or something similar. These are PLANS. It's correct to say "Under Obama's plan..." or "Under McCain's plan..." It's incorrect to assume that when they become President, their plans will actually pass... Yes, they will have power as President to effectuate certain changes, but their proposed plans are just that - proposed plans. They don't have the power to enact unilaterally every portion of every one of their plans.
This is why I say (and continue to say) that people need to be just as involved, if not more so, in the local elections... Our Senators and Representatives and our local officials are a vital part of our government. We need to choose them carefully.
On top of that, we need to recognize that the government alone isn't the driving force in our economy. Policy makes a difference, yes, but the government and particularly the President is NOT the be all and end all of the economy.

ITA! Very well put! The president can say what he wants- propose what he wants- but in the end, it's not just up to him.
