Does anyone REALLY feel that acupuncture made a difference?
I'm having a really hard time deciding if I want to do acu with my next cycle....
I find getting back and forth to appts compiled with work and getting up at 4 in the morning to get to the city for monitoring VERY stressful

Re: Does anyone REALLY feel that acupuncture made a difference?
I obviously didn't think it made a difference. I can't really say if it truly works - I know some have gotten PG while doing accu and some stopped doing accu and got PG....I think it's more of a mental thing - sort of like each person thinks the Dr. that got them PG is the best.
Sorry for the ambivalent answer

Re: Does anyone REALLY feel that acupuncture made a difference?
honestly, I think it was a factor in creating my good embryo. On the last cycle, two things were different - acupuncture from pre injections, and the splitting of the dose of Menapur from 1x day to an am and a pm split.
I never did acu through the cycle before - just a visit the day before transfer or around implantation.
If I hadn't had the acu I might have always been wondering...its hit or miss, but I don;t think its a negative impact, and that was my logic for doing it
I jsut reread your post...might help if I did that first
if it adds more stress to your schedule, i'd pass on it. thats one of the reasons I didn't use it before, and I had a chemical before. Andrea Hugler opened an office less than 15 minutes from my house, which was a big factor in me going

she has an office not far from my house and I used her last cycle (which was canceled), but it was a PITA to get an appt with her b/c she is only there a few days and was totally booked

Re: Does anyone REALLY feel that acupuncture made a difference?
It didn't help me get pg. But it helped me overall. I was less stressed and felt I had a better handle on everything. The one cycle I did without it I got pg.

Re: Does anyone REALLY feel that acupuncture made a difference?
I think it helped -- and I think it helped that I went to someone who specializes in IF. Previously I went to someone who wasn't specialized.
I won't say that accu is what got me my BFP -- but I wouldn't say it didn't help.
If it it too stressful for you then it probably wouldn't help.

Re: Does anyone REALLY feel that acupuncture made a difference?
I did the the first IVF and then not this last one. I do find it relaxing but the drive to Huntington and back wasn't that great so that is why I didn't bother this time. I think it depends how much extra stress getting there puts on you

Re: Does anyone REALLY feel that acupuncture made a difference?
I think it helped me relax during my transfer. My accupuncturist came to my clinic the morning of my transfer and did a treatment before and waited and did a treatment after my transfer. Plus she did a treatment during my 2ww and concentrated on certain areas.

Re: Does anyone REALLY feel that acupuncture made a difference?
If anything it relaxed me.
I also went to someone who specialized in IF, and did notice a difference in # and size of follicles while I went to accupuncture.
Did it get me pg...I don't really know. I can say that mentally it did help out alot.

Re: Does anyone REALLY feel that acupuncture made a difference?
I feel that it helped make a difference for me. It helped to reduce my stress as well as with some of the side effects of the meds I was on.

Re: Does anyone REALLY feel that acupuncture made a difference?
I think it makes a difference.
If nothing else, it's an hour of "you" time where you are relaxed and can just let your mind go.
I echo Kara's sentiments though - I would definitely go to one that specializes in IF.
My RE had one that was part of the practice and I loved him. He was well versed in everything I was going through so I never had to explain anything.
