Does anyone take fish oil supplements?
I've been hearing and reading many positive benefits of taking fish oil supplements daily. Anyone have any experience? I bought a bottle and figured I'd see what all the craze is about.
Thanks!

Re: Does anyone take fish oil supplements?
I have been taking them for several years. Most studies use the dose of 180mg Eicosapentaenoic acid and 120mg Docosahexaenoic acid. Do you have specific questions??

Re: Does anyone take fish oil supplements?
My mom used to give them to me every day when I was a teenager, but as I got older I stopped taking them. I should have kept it up! I recently bought a bottle. I've heard it's good for your heart, brain, everything!

The only negative side effect I have had is when I have taken it combined with NSAIDS or Aspirin- It can enhance the anti-platelet action of the medicine causing you to bruise easily b/c it can thin your blood-this can also make cuts bleed a lot more then usual. There are some reports showing it can cause immune system depression in large doses so it is not advised for people who have a suppressed immune system. I also know it is not advised for anyone with uncontrolled high blood pressure to take fish oil. There are no negative reports in humans during pregnancy but animal studies have show that fish oil supplementation can prolong and intensify labor and increase the risk of blood lost following delivery. Hope this helps.

Right now I am a student working on a PhD in Neuroscience but I have a masters in Clinical Nutrition. I used to do nutrition research and teach at NYIT as an adjunct professor. My goal is to be able to integrate nutrition into my neuroscience research. First I have to finish my degree and graduate
