Re: Does anyone want to hear the latest LIRR story?

Going home last night I’m sitting at the end of a 3 seater in the newer trains. It’s at the short end of the car so behind me is a two seater. At Jamaica these two young guys get on the train and it’s standing room only. They are standing..one next to me with one had on the seat in front of me and one hand on my seat. The other in back of me leaning on the back of my seat. I was cornered. They ran for the train so they were huffing and puffing and laughing but huffing on me directly! They were talking (not English) to each other loudly. I figured they would simmer down and I could go on reading. I was already bothered by the fact that I was cornered in my seat. I couldn’t get up if I wanted to. They were the only ones standing in the aisle by the way.

The continued talking and then they started singing..the guy in back of my is 6 inches from my head and starts singing Lady in Red (and no-he can’t sing) Then they decide to sing another song which has the lyrics of something like “make love to you all night..etc.) they kept singing and talking and laughing and I finally said. “hey dude, I’m trying to read..can you stop?” They didn’t say anything and continued to talk, **** their teeth and sing. After 10 minutes of reading the same line of the newspaper, I said “hey’ I asked you once, could you please stop..etc..I went on about manners and rudeness and commuter train..blah blah…the one guys said to me that I should shut up because I’m embarrassing myself and I’m just a “BIG” girl trying to make a scene. The other one just sucked his teeth. I turned to the other guy and said, don’t **** your teeth at me.

I was so furious at them..it was like talking to a brick wall. Nothing I said was helping…nobody came to my rescue either.

Am I wrong? I realize standing on the train bites, but hey we all do it at one time or the other. It doesn’t mean you act like a nuisance.

These guys were very young and stupid in my opinion and don’t realize what the train etiquette is.

I was so mad I was shaking.

Does anyone have a number for complaints to the railroad? The conductor did nothing.

Honey I perfectly understand. I take the LIRR every single day and I can sympathize with you. Some people have no manners. I had a woman sitting behind me last night and she talked on the cell the entire ride home. It was loud, rude and obnoxious. Really I don't want to know about your period and how your boyfriend doesn't care when you have it. Poor woman-I went off on her...she understood.

Unfortunately, when someone (no matter what age) has "rude and obnoxius" in-bred in them..........there isnt anything to stop it other than a nice punch in the face........but who wants to get involved with that, right???

Re: Does anyone want to hear the latest LIRR story?

Public affairs was very sympathetic-they said in the future to find a conductor and report them. They can throw them off the train if they are being disruptive. Frankly, I didn't want to give up my seat to them, but afterwards I felt unsafe..I was scared.

No wonder nobody stood up for me...they had sense enough to be scared for their safety. Not me, I was confrontational.

I just ride this train all the time everyday pay $300/mo and I just want a peaceful ride.

I completely agree. I take the train at 6 am and when it stops at the next stop "chatty cathy" comes on and does not stop for the almost 1 hour we are on this train. Shut up!! Just shut the F*** up!! It's not that she's rude, but I truly think she just makes conversation with her seatmates for the sake of listening to her own voice!!

Re: Does anyone want to hear the latest LIRR story?

I have a commuter story too. I was on the R train this morning, and was in the two seater that has another two attached to the back. Lady #1 was sitting at my back who had her bag on the seat next to her. It was getting crowded, and someone (lets call her #2) came along and asked her to please move her bag so they could sit down. She didn't want to, and got SCREAMED at by #2, "You aren't entitled to two seats! You can get a ticket! I'm gonna call the cops!" Since #1 didn't move her bag, #2 sat there anyway, and squashed whatever was in it. Chat Icon #2 gets off at her stop.

#1 moves her smashed bag back to the seat next to her. Another person, #3, comes along and wants to sit there. #1 REFUSES to move her bag. So #3 picks it up and flings it across the train. I would have done the same.

Funniest damn commute in a while.

Susan! I was thinking of you last night. . .there was a dreaded seat saver on my train! Chat Icon

She was sitting across the aisle from me, in the window seat of a 3 seater. She claimed to be saving the middle & aisle for her husband & son & then never showed. She fianlly let someone sit there as the dooors were closing.

I didn't even notice untill after that, that the guy behind her, was sitting in the aisle sea tof the 2 seater next to the bump & was turned in, almsot with his back to the aisle & someone walked by & called him on it!

He didn't want to sit there, but he just yelled "You think you can keep that seat for self by leaning in like that?"

It was great! Chat Icon

Let's start the pamphlet:

1. Please keep your mouth SHUT if you board the train before 7am. People are trying to get their sleep on!!!
