Does anyone work overnights, while pregnant?

I am not pregnant yet, but plan to start TTC in the next year. I work overnights right now, and it is hard on my body. I get sick a lot, and I am always tired. I am scared it is going to be worse when I am pregnant. I am wondering if I will even be able to do it.

I just want to know how the overnight workers feel. Thanks!

I worked the overnights until I got pregnant. Thankfully, a guy quit ahead of me and I got moved up. I can't imagine having to do it right now. I'm actually going back to the overnights after the baby is born.

I have a hard time working overnights know, I can't imagine how I would feel pregnant. Especailly when I get past 6 months. That was great that you got to go to days for awhile. I would never be able to do that with my job.

I'm not on days, I work until 1am now. I am fully exhausted and icky after about 9pm. I get night sickness (well, nausea). Sometimes you do what you need to do. Are you thinking of working elsewhere? If so, think about maternity leave, or FMLA, or insurance, or vacation. Sometimes it's easier to stay where you are because you don't get benefits until 1 year of employment. If those things aren't a concern, then move on!!!! I hate my job, but I had to stay.

I am going to stay until I can't take it anymore. I work for the state so I have great benefits. I am actually thinking of jumping on DH benefits this year, just incase I need to jump down to part time for awhile.
Working until 1am is just as bad. Overnights is just not natural for the body. In the past two years, I have been sick so much more then I have ever been. I gained weight, even though I try to work out and eat good. I don't sleep enough, and I am always tired. My father did this for 30 years, I don't know how. Plus, my DH hates that I work overnight. He doesn't like when I leave at night. He works days, so we are complete opposite!

Re: Does anyone work overnights, while pregnant?

I work 7p-7a, some nights are really hard on me especially sine I am a Labor & Delivery Room nurse @ North Shore. It has been non stop busy. Working two night in a row really wipes me out. I always look forward to my day off. Honestly I would rather stay working nights because days is even crazier busy.

Good Luck

Re: Does anyone work overnights, while pregnant?

i just came off two weeks of night shift and i found it brutal, but i think that's because it took me a very long time to reverse my days and nights - actually, i never fully succeeded in doing it.

now i work 24 hour shifts periodically, average about once a week. it's part of my job, and i will continue to do it as long as i can.
