Does anyone's K'er participate in town's cheerleading

My DD was looking at the cheerleaders on our team's page for our town & was interested. She can't join until next year at 5; yet looking at the handbook it's pretty strict etc. re: absences & do's/don'ts.

Is anyone's 5 year old in cheerleading for football in town?

Also is it a lot of gymnastics? Simple routines?

Would you recommend it?

I don't have too much to say just yet.

DD is signed up for cheerleading to start in August. She will be 5 in Aug and starting KG.

I am a team mom, so I have been handed quite a few information packets.

They do compeititions so once school starts there is a strict attendance policy. If she misses she can't cheer at the game or practice.

As a former athlete, I am ok with that. She is joining a team. If she is absent, her part in the routine is not going to happen.

There isn't really any tumbling. They are encouraged not forced to participate in gymnastics. DD has been involved with that and dance since she was 2 anyway.
