does anyone's toddler refuse to eat food that's cut up into small pieces?

jonah refuses to eat the food that i cut up. he needs the ENTIRE stalk of broccoli, the ENTIRE banana, etc.

i need for the kid to eat. but i spend all of dinnertime watching him like a hawk, scared to death that he will choke. it's driving me insane.

anyone else going through this?

DS will eat the food I cut up but, when he sees the bigger pieces and where it came from he will often whine for it - I just try to keep it out of his sight

lets just say charlie "prefers" food that isn't cut up. If I put a strawberry on his tray and I go to cut it, he immediately goes to grab the bigger side of it...but he shoves everything in his mouth...whether it is 10 small peices or 1 big one and I get so nervous. Most of the time he'll spit it out if he cant chew it up but I still have to watch him like a hawk. I guess eventually they'll learn to take bites...I hope!

Thats his new thing. He has trouble with bites , so we always cut it up small. We worked on it and now that he can bite he wants everything whole.

I like to give DS whole things better. If i cut up a piece of apple he will shove as many little pieces in his mouth as he can. If I give him the piece he bites off a little bit at a time.

I have trouble getting her to eat anything at all! Maybe this is the problem....she wants big pieces?
