This is haaaard.
This'll probably be what I'm eating for like 4 days. EDITED B/C DH CANNOT READ A SHOPPING LIST AND I HAVE TO RESHOP TOMORROW NIGHT
Breakfast 1 whole egg + 2 egg whites scrambled .5 cup low fat plain yogurt 1 cup cheerios
Lunch spinach salad with 1 oz. sunflower seeds, .25 cup dried cherries and turkey
Snack 4 oz. low fat cottage cheese whole apple with 1 tbsp natural PB
Dinner 5 oz chicken 1 cup peas with 1 tsp olive oil and some paprika .25 cup brown rice
I'm basically going to keep the snacks and breakfast the same; I am going to also try the spinach ricotta chicken recipe this week and make the shrimp/asparagus salad after I buy asparagus tomorrow night

Sorry it took me so long to answer Liza! A few of us are following the 30-day eating/fitness plan by Jillian Michaels (check out the book it's called Making the cut). In the book you have to take a quiz to find out what type of oxidizer you are and then depending on that you divide up your calories accordingly. I am a balanced oxidizer so I need to eat 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% fats.
The Luna Bars are just a pre-workout snack for me in the morning before working out so that I have energy to give it my all They are convenient, small and nutritious so it works for me.

Yeah I hear you! I am probably going to eat the above for 2-3 days. I will see how much I have left after I cook/eat it.
Good for you for checking out the recipes! I am so boring I like things really plain and simple. The spinach ricotta recipe did sound good - maybe I will start switching things up next week if I am bored.
So excited we are starting tomorrow!!!!!!!!! I am preparing and packing up everything tonight. Also taking measurements and pictures. I am extra bloated today so that will just help my after picture look all that more fabulous

Re: Making the Cut - Meal Plans!!! Post them here!!!!
I was looking over the book last night trying to make a list of stuff to pick up. It is difficult because you are countng your calories.
I will have scambled eggs with Feta cheese for breakfast. Lunch maybe a burger with no bun and tomatoes and onions. Dinner Chicken I will pick up some raw veggies to munch on for snacking.
The counting calories is what is going to kill me. Good Luck Girls

Re: The Official Making the Cut Thread - Post your meal plans and progress here!!!!
Hi everyone! I'll be starting the plan tomorrow - my daughter has an ear infection and reacted really badly to her antibiotics - so I've spent the last 2 days holding her or letting her sleep in my arms - which is a great arm workout - but not exactly what Jillian Michaels had in mind.
I'm a balanced oxidizer as well.
I'll post my menus when I get home - I'm way behind at work!

Re: The Official Making the Cut Thread - Post your meal plans and progress here!!!!
Hi girls! Day 2 and so far so good. I didn't feel like yesterday was tough enough so I did double circuits today - what a great idea I had to do it on the day we have all the lunges and incline runs
I stuck 100% to the program yesterday (with the exception of a packet of splenda in my coffee which I am having today as well). I already feel great!
28 days to go!!!

okay so for the balanced oxidizers - the shrimp/asparagus salad is easy to make AND it tastes great!
i've been doing well - feeling hungry but other than that no issues.

Not doing this but just wanted to say keep up the great work everyone! I was checking out Azad's book last week and this program is intense but the results will be amazing. When I have less then 20 to lose I am totally going to give this a shot.

Sounds good but I don't eat seafood I will definitely try some of her recipes next week! I hear they are all very easy to make once you have the ingredients.
Day 3 going great! Love that it's a rest day Though I am looking forward to hitting the gym tomorrow and Friday and being off on the weekend! I am going to add a cardio session on Saturday and go for a moderate-paced jog.
So far I have been 100% with my menu and I have Days 6 and 7 planned as well.
I have noticed my protein needs to be increased...I will focus on that next week!
DAY 6 (rest day but will do some cardio today) Breakfast 8AM 3 Egg Whites 1 slice Ezekiel 4:9 Sesame Sprouted Grain Bread
Lunch 11:30AM 2 cups Romaine Lettuce 1 oz Jarlsberg Lite Swiss Cheese ¼ cup Trader Joe’s Omega Mix ½ cup grilled chicken thigh
Afternoon Snack 3:30PM 1 Luna Caramel Nut Brownie Bar
Dinner 6:30PM (going to a holiday party so most of this is estimated) 2 servings baby carrots 1 serving pepper 1 serving homemade hummus Beef Stew Butternut Squash Pineapple
43.84% Carbs 23.94% Protein 32.2% Fat
Total calories: 1491 (under calorie allowance for today to make up for estimation errors)
DAYS 7 (rest day) Breakfast 8AM ¼ cup Quaker Oats Oatmeal 2 whole eggs 1.5 cups Skim Milk
Lunch 11:30AM 2 cups Romaine Lettuce 1 stick Trader Joe's Lite Mild Cheddar Sticks 1 cup grilled chicken thigh 2 Tbsp Ken’s Ken's Light Northern Italian Salad Dressing

I think day 1 I felt this way because I always snacked at night and thankfully I have been following the diet and have not binged at all. My fear is that I am not eating enough calories. I have not made any of the reciepes and really have been winging it with the calories. I eat a ton of raw veggies. 3 eggs for breakfast with 1/4 cup of Feta cheese which is 330 and had a salad for lunch which is 260 and so far no snacks yet but maybe I will have 1 tablespoon of PB for the protein and the caloires.
I like this because I am seeing what I eat and last night I made brownies (my favorite for DS and DH) and was not tempted at all. I was so proud of myself.

No I have not been. I think it's because I am eating dinner a bit later than usual. I too am an evening snacker but am determined to stick to my plan!
Are you sticking to your macronutrient ratios?

Yeah you definitely need to get the minimum number of calories or else the shi!t will hit the fan! Crazy how the temptation goes away with sheer determination huh?

Oh my goodness I was like that tonight. Maybe it's all those calories burning? I was starving hungry so I ate another Luna bar and a another piece of Eziekiel bread Thank goodness I had the calories to cover that from the workout this morning.

Re: The Official Making the Cut Thread - Post your meal plans and progress here!!!!
Even though I do tend to skip meals on weekends I think I will be fine. We have recieved so many goodie baskets at work and so far I have been good but its really hard and the holiday parties have me a bit worried myself expecially no alcohol. I do not drink often but I do like a glass of wine every once and a while.

Re: The Official Making the Cut Thread - Post your meal plans and progress here!!!!
so yesterday was an 'off' day for exercise - but i always dance on wednesdays and saturdays - always
saturday classes are scheduled for an hour but sometimes they go 90 minutes or even two hours. people are invited to stay for as long as they have the time and the energy.
my teacher taught for three hours. [there were three of us left at the end] - and she kicked our asses. i was floating all day because i loved it so much. until today.
the point of this long post - i got SO into it yesterday that i hurt my neck. nothing serious (just soreness) - but i am in far too much pain do anything much less work out today. i'm really hoping to get back on the ball tomorrow. I can't believe that i did this to myself.
good thing though is that i didn't meal skip yesterday at all!
how is everyone else doing????
