Does DH have to be present for first IUI? UPDATE AT BOTTOM
My husband cannot take off from work on Tuesday, which is when I'm getting my IUI done. I'm planning to bring his sample with me. Is this ok or will he have to sign some legal paperwork?

Re: Does DH have to be present for first IUI?
At RSONY you need DH's License to drop the sample off without him being present. Im not sure if you need anything signed by him, but you might. I cant remember, DH always goes to produce there, we live too far to gettheir in time to drop off. I would call them tommorow and ask. I know he doesnt have to be there, but what you need Im unsure of. If you need to sign a paper, maybe they can fax it to you tommorow, before you go on Tueday?

Re: Does DH have to be present for first IUI?
My place always requests that DH drop it off and they have him sign a document stating it is his and hasn't been out of his site. MY dh is never there for the IUI himself but does drop off his boys 2 hours ahead of me.

Re: Does DH have to be present for first IUI?
I know that you will have to bring a copy of his license. Also, make sure that you fill in the paperwork that comes in the brown bag with the sample cup - there are some questions about the sample you bring in and your husband has to sign those papers. I also remember that there are some consents that need to be signed in your file. We did that when I had my first consult and my husband was with me. He was able to sign it there in front of a witness. Maybe you did that with your dh when you had your first consult.
Give them a call tomorrow to make sure that you have all the required paperwork done for your IUI. Remember, to bring in the Sample within the hour that it is produced.
Good Luck on Tuesday and lots of Baby Dust....

Thank you so much everyone! This is going to be tough! I wish my husband's boss wasn't so tough so he could just come in late. It would make our lives so much easier.

Re: Does DH have to be present for first IUI?
Horribly, actually. Of course I'm the ONE person who had a horrible experience with this. I should have taken it as a sign when I was patient #13 to sign in. The pain I endured is horrible. There's seriously something wrong with me. The doctor kept saying, "This is normally a five minute procedure, this is normally an easy procedure, if your cervix would cooperate, this procedure would not be so painful and long." The NP was frantically looking through paperwork saying, "Have you seen this sheet? Maybe that's what's wrong..." The doctor kept telling me how rare this is....and "let me try just one more syringe...don't be surprised if you bleed for days after this is done bc I've been torturing you with so many needles, etc." They left the office and I just bawled on the table. Then they told me to come back tomorrow for another one which might be easier. I think not. Adoption is looking better every day.

Re: Does DH have to be present for first IUI? UPDATE AT BOTTOM
Don't know why it was so complicated or what is wrong with my cervix other than that it is uncooperative, whatever that means! I personally feel the IUI wasn't timed correctly and that's why it hurt. But who knows...

Re: Does DH have to be present for first IUI? UPDATE AT BOTTOM
Oh my gosh susan I am so sorry this happened. Have you had any type of procedures on your cervix ? You may have cervical stenosis and then they may have to dilate you for the IUI. Do you go to Rsofny ? Who did your IUI ?
What sheet were they talking about ? Perhaps there was information the doctor neglected to take into account ?
Timing of IUI"s are so very important, do you feel you weren't even ovulating ? Your cervix would be closed if that was the case.

Re: Does DH have to be present for first IUI? UPDATE AT BOTTOM
IM SO SO Sorry Susan. Did they dilate you? I have severe cervical stenosis and scarring and they feared I would need to be dilated before or during I should say each IUI, and my OBGYN who is the first to have noticied thecervical issue did say that dilation could be painful, although over quickly. Thankfully I didnt have to have it.
Im really sorry, I feel so horrible for you, and I will be PRAYING that the next one doesnt hurt for you. That is really a hard thing to go through.
Where do you go again( clinic?)
Gosh- Im sending you a TON of hugs!

Re: Does DH have to be present for first IUI? UPDATE AT BOTTOM
I am so sorry you had to go through this Susan. It definitley sounds like there is something strange going on. I will say that I have had four different Dr's give me IUI's and that some of them are better than others. Some slide the catheter in and you don't even feel it and others cause cramping. Perhaps your Doc was inexperienced with your situation.
I am so sorry and hope you get your BFP so you don't have to go through this again.

Re: Does DH have to be present for first IUI? UPDATE AT BOTTOM
Im so sorry that you went through this. You should ask them what sheet they are talking about. You have a right to know what is in your records. Which doctor did your iui? How are you feeling today? take care and maybe you will get a BCP after this ordeal.....

Re: Does DH have to be present for first IUI? UPDATE AT BOTTOM
Oh, I totally know what sheet she was talking about. I saw which one she pulled out. It was a sheet that I provided to them when I first started going there -- results from my HSG. I said, "If you're concerned about my tubes being blocked; that's not the case anymore." And she said, "No, I was concerned about the position of your uterus." She said this because on the HSG report they said I have a "low lying uterus." The doctor said he did not believe this was why. At the end I asked him what the deal was and he said it could have been as simple as having to empty my bladder, but I so didn't have to pee so I have no idea what he was talking about. Maybe I do have cervical stenosis, but wouldn't I have been diagnosed with it earlier? I go to RSONY. Dr. Stelling did my IUI. Dr. Cain is my primary RE. Thanks for all of your concerns! I love you ladies! Baby Dust!
ETA answers to Michelle's questions: I have not had any procedures done on my cervix and HCG trigger shot was done yesterday morning. IUI this morning. Last night I took an OPK and it came back with no surge, this morning I had a surge. They did not take blood or do a sonogram this morning which I was very upset over. How do they know what my follies look like today or if the egg was released? I'm frustrated.

hmmm...I have to say Dr. Stelling is my favorite Dr there, besides Dr San Roman, they are the only two who have EVER listened to me. Im surprised...but I did have one IUI that was very painful and Dr. San Roman said he was trying to get it "further"....And I was cramping for 2 days if I wasnt laying down. Then my last one, not one cramp at all. SO have faith that the next one could honestly be FINE. It happens. I will pray it is for you.
As far as blood and sono, you literally have to ask and insist on it there. What I normally do when my OPKS are questionable is tell them that I had a neg followed by a positive and can I have blood to confirm and they will.
Sounds like Friday will be your best day for another IUI based on todays +.
If you go Friday , lemme know, I will bethere too ( early!)
Friday is one of their busiest days as well so if you do go, be prepared to wait a LONG time. Thats what they told me last week.

Re: Does DH have to be present for first IUI? UPDATE AT BOTTOM
I get so frustrated that I have to ask about everything to get answers there. I have to ask about my follies. I usually get an answer like, "they're fine" and have to ask, "Well, how many were there? What did they measure?" I mean, I see them entering it on the screen but that's not the point. I also wish they'd explain the sperm thing more to me. All I know is over 5 million is ok. There's one NP there I love and she is the only comforting source for me there. Otherwise I feel like a case number. Maybe I will try it again, but definitely not this month. I just can't.

I would when you get there tell them that you got a surge yesterday but not today( meaning tommorow when your there) and you are unsure, can you have blood to check if it was timed well. What can they say no??
Do you know whos on call tommorow?
Either way, GOOD luck. And also Dr. Bray was my primary RE and I changed because I didnt like her style, so you can always change. I wasnt fond of Dr Cain either, but that was just based on one IUI she did for me, so I dont want to prematurly judge. Although you have seen my vent of them, so I may be biased at this point.
WISHING YOU LOTS OF LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
