Does JHS smell bad
Does Japanese Hair Straighting smell bad afterwards? Does it smell like a perm?

I always think this is for Junior High School. I was thinking of course it smells bad it is filled with teenagers

Sorry, must admit I thought the same thing!
Seriuosly, I am no help, never did the straightening, but a friend of mine did--don't recall noticing a smell.

There is a slight smell but it goes away as soon as you are able to wash it on your own. BTW I never posted a follow up because I have been so busy but I did it on April 7th with a girlfriend of mine and its literally the best thing I have ever done for my hair! good luck!

The chemicals they use do smell like a perm..but once they wash it..it does not stay smelling like that. Unfortunately you CANNOT wash your hair for 3 days after having it done..so be prepared for that.
I've done this 4 times..and over a year ago decided to let it grow out. Well..it hasn't grown out completely yet..and to be honest with you I regret having done it. The idea of having straight hair ALL the time was so appealing to me..especially because in humidity (like today) it would remain straight. BUT..my hair is not VERY curly..it is just curly. It achieved what I wanted..giving me straight hair all the time..but I also liked to have body in my hair..and with this..unless you blow it out, it will be stick straight. If that's the look you like..then I say go for it. However..just be prepared if you decide to grow it out..it will take a very long time..unless you chop off your hair every few months to get rid of it.
Another thing I can say..is make sure you deep condition your hair. After the 3 days when you wash it..it will more than likely feel hard..but that goes away.
