Does the base of your infant car seat move....

...if you push on it will it move?

We have a graco snugride and when I try to move the base it will move and is not secured rigidly - we are using the latch system. Dh says this is the way its supposed to be but I wonder.

My 3 year olds britax marathon seat is stuck rigidly to the seat and there is no movement at all.

What do you think?

Nope it's not in right.

It's not supposed to move more than 1/2 an inch. If it moves more than that, it's not tight enough. Chat Icon

Re: Does the base of your infant car seat move....

if you dont have the 'latch' and you have a regular seat belt do you have any tricks for getting it in tighter? I always find myself fighting with the car seat to get it in tight

thanks,

That kept happening to us and no that is not right - in fact one time I was driving and the seat actually fell over Chat Icon Since then, whenever we install carseats we have the inspection guy come and he gets it in nice and tight for us! I would def. get it inspected. Also, the latch system isn't always the best! HTH!

THANK YOU ladies - I knew it wasnt in right - DH thinks he knows all about these things but obviously not. I am going to get him to spend all night out there now to get it tight as I am not taking DS out in it until its right.

Thanks a lotChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Does the base of your infant car seat move....

This is what I thought. In DH's car we have to use the seat belt as there is no latch in the middle. I had it installed by the Sheriffs department who do seat inspections/installations in my county. The base lifts up in the front (like where the edge of the seat is) when we take the car seat out (on the rare occassions we use DH's car). I sent him back there this week to have it fixed and they redid it, and said it was in correctly and that's how it's supposed to be when secured with the seatbelt. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
