My insurance entitles me to three IVFs per year. I have done two fresh cycles. My second cycle has produced two frozen embryos. Will my insurance company count that as my third and final cycle for the year? Obviously, I would rather use my third on another fresh cycle since it is more expensive.

Yup... FET is included in that 3 your insurance covers.

You have great insurance though that it covers 3 per year! Mine covers 3 LIFETIME attempts. I have 1 left. We are going to pay out of pocket for the FET and hold onto the one remaining attempt I have if we have to do a fresh cycle.

I guess I have to call and check. How much is the FET costing you out of pocket? Does the insurance cover the meds? I have no lifetime max.

all my meds are covered ..no max .

Hey D, I remember we both have UHC. I thought IVF and FET count towards the lifetime 3.
Did you find this out about the unlimeted FET's through UHC or your doctor? I should ask- that would be awesome if it's true for me too!!!!!

I just called my insurance company and they said that they don't know. They said that they will call me back. They also never received my claim to refund my out-of-pocket expenses for the PGD. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Shiv - I would call your insurance company. It's up to who funds the insurance policy what and how things are covered.

I know someone that has the same exact insurance as I do, but IF treatments are not covered for her, but were for me.

yea luckily my FET's dont count towards the lifetime of 3 IVF's.
i found out through my insurance AND my RE's office.. when they gave me a list of what is covered and not covered.
so you can double check with both.
