Does this happen to other Moms....
DS and my cousins DS are a year apart. Everytime we get together my cousin always makes the conversation into a one up contest. If my DS does something, I mean ANYTHING, her DS always does it one better. It's so annoying. I really love my cousin and we usually have a good time together, the boys love playing together, but I just want to do this when she starts to get like this.
Does this happen to anyone else when they get around other moms?? I always just shrug it off and ignore her. It's so annoying.

It's insecurity. I have several friends who view EVERYTHING as a contest. But then I realized it isn't about me. It's all about insecurity. With those friends, I simply avoid sharing any of my kids' accomplishments because I don't want them to feel like they need to be 'better'. When they brag about their kids, I say "Fantastic!".

See I've been trying not to share any of DS accomplishments with her because of how she gets. But then she will do it with other stuff. For example when I was there Saturday DS had on new sneakers. She asked where I got them so I told her. She goes on to say, "Oh I got something like those for (her DS) but they cost a lil bit more."

My niece is 5 days older than my dd and it's hard because I don't want it to be competition or constant comparison. For example, Maddie rolled over this weekend and her baby hasn't. I didn't tell her because I didn't want it to sound like I was bragging. I totally know how you feel!

Re: Does this happen to other Moms....
I dont really remember this phenomenon in the past...but OH BOY did I ever have an introduction to it this time around!!!!
DS is, by all accounts, a BIG BOY. He was born in August along with 2 other little boys of aquantiences...Ive had the pleasure of speaking to these other mothers a couple of times and each time the competition for which baby is bigger is almost comical!!!! (not on my part) I really have no control over how big this baby is... Everyone then starts with teeth and who's got them...again this is something that you have no control over..why are you competing about who has teeth???
