Does this look fake?
I got this right hand ring for my birthday, and quite a few people have asked me if it's "real".
I am considering exchanging it for something else...
Do you think it looks "costume?

Is it white gold? I think it's a beautiful ring, Yes i think it looks real... Keep it dont worry about what other people think, Do you 'LIKE' your ring? Than thats the only thing that counts, It doesn't matter what other people think.. KWIM.

If you like it, wear it! Oviously it's an eye chatcher or people wouldn't be asking you if it's real!!!! And I wouldn't take the "Is it real?" question as an insult. (Would people be as insulted if they were wearing a piece of costume jewelry and someone asked them if it was real!?! I think not!  ) I think the fact that it's a cocktail ring with a lot of bling probably throws people off.

i think its a nice ring. if you like it i don't think it matters what others say. If people are asking you if it's real, as tacky a question as it is, i would take it as a compliment that it is grabbing their attention.

I agree with this. I don't think they are asking if its real because it looks fake - if they did think it was fake they probably *wouldn't* ask for fear of embarrassing you. Or at least thats how I feel.
It's beautiful by the way.

If you love it - KEEP IT! Who the heck cares what people say/think...
I have a David Yurman cocktail, right-hand ring that DH got me for our one-year wedding anniversary. My mom's friend has a copy of the ring that she got for 15 dollars at a jewelry party - they look pretty much exactly the same. No one would know the difference between them (made me feel foolish for not just buying the copy! lol!) but the point is: cocktail-style, right-hand rings are so in right now - the ones with the different colored stones and all... so there's no way of knowing (by looking at it) what kind of stone it is or if it is "real" or not... I'm SURE most people don't think mine is - they probably assume it is costume b/c the style of it means it has that "look". Then, I get asked what KIND of stone it is a lot and it is a light green color which looks like Peridot but it isn't -- Yurman calls is something else that I cannot even spell or pronounce!
I'm rambling lol - KEEP IT!

It was almost as if she already "knew" there was no way they were real a nd THAT was what offended me.

It sounds like it probably was a back handed compliment and I don't like those either. Though-I would love it if someone thought I was too young to have such a nice ring-two problems that are not so bad to have (a nice ring AND youth)

They make some great "fakes" now it's hard to tell real from not.
It does not matter though. If you love the ring, keep it.
I love that ring. It think it's gorgeous. I would complement someone on it but NEVER ask if it's real. That is a the definition of tacky.
