does this make me a good wife or a sucker?
DH went on a golf trip about a month ago with friends for 5 days. I actually paid for the trip as his bday gift. I have been begging him for a vacation and the timing of our jobs just hasn't let it happen. DH's brother and friend are in Ft Myers right now. They were supposed to come home Friday, so this was a non-issue. But they are saving money by staying until Monday. I told DH that he should go. He could go Friday to Monday (he still has vacation days left.) Do I sound like complete idiot for even suggesting it to him? I know he would love to go, but he feels really guilty since I've been asking for a trip for so long. He would also miss my BFF's DD bday party on Saturday, which we already replied to.

You're ot a sucker at all......I would have totally done the same thing. Think of it this way, you have even more leverage for your own getaway later!

I dont' think you're a sucker for suggesting it but I do think you need to be sure that down the line, you're not going to be upset when you have vacation & he doesn't.

I totally know what you're saying. The thing is, I follow the school calendar, so it's usually just too expensive for us to travelk during school breaks, so we wait until the summer. DH has already taken off all of Christmas week up until New Yeras to be home with DS and I. And he still has 2 vacation days left to use or he will use them. I know if I were in his shoes, I would totally go to Florida.

good wife. mine goes away on trips, he's generally nicer to me then I am to him so this evens things out.

if you are a sucker I am the town idiot.
My dh is going to South Dakota for 2 weeks, Daytona in March and upstate for a few days at some point.
Why?
because I figure he works...and I am not his mother...
The South Dakota trip usually kills me and now I am have the twins but absence makes the heart grow fonder.
I also get away with murder, you can yet at shopping sprees if I am alone all that time.
South Dakota wil be my African Gray I purchase.
ha
if we didn't go anywhere together I would be ******, but depends on how tired I am at the moment.

I only say that because he seems to get a lot more free passes than I do. I work parttime, so it's no big shake for him to go away for a couple of days because I'm home most of the time when he's working anyway. I'm off in the summer, but DH wouldn't take time off from his own job to sit at home with DS so I could go away. That being said, if I can work around DH's schedule, he would never tell me not to go off and do something with my friends- it's just that it seems to work out more for him. Another issue is that I would love for him and I to get away together and even though I would be ok with him going this weekend, I would privately be a little jealous.

I totally feel what you are saying - DH gets out all the time and I do not but I don't usually give him any grief - but he def has it easier than me and I get jealous.
