I am due May 3rd.

I work an hour miniumum via express bus each way and I am looking to work until April 20th. I would have off 8 work days before my due date.

Is that too much time? Too little time??

I think so. I gave them 10 work days (was due 04/20 and last day was 04/07), my last day was a friday and the next wed. I went into labor and delivered the next day. So I was only home a total of 5 days and I am glad I decided to leave earlier becaues those few days came in handy. I was going to work until the end and I oly woked 20 minutes from home.

sounds like the minimum....I stopped 2 weeks before my due date with my first, she was born 1 week early...Had I waited another week, i would've been at work! You need that time if only to relax, but to finalize things and mentally prepare for your new life....take the time and just enjoy it.

You have to do what is comfortable for you and your commute. I was 8 days late, so I am glad I worked up till very end so I was able to use all 12 weeks with the baby.

I agree - everyone is different. I plan on working until the end or until I just cannot make the trip to the city anymore. I want to save as much paid time off as possible for after she is born. No unpaid time for me unless it's absolutely necessary.

I worked in the city up until the 1st week in February, I'm due March 4th. I'm working from home until the day I give birth.

If I were you and couldn't work remotely I would consider stopping at least 2 weeks prior, just to be cautious.

I think that sounds right, unless of course you just can't do it anymore toward the end.

I am trying to work until the end. My job is five minutes from home, so that helps.

Sounds good to me you need some time off. 8 days doesnt seem like a lot to me at all.

I agree- I was driving an hour each way, and it was tough. But I was still planning to work till 38 weeks. Then I was diagnosed with hypertension, and had to stop at 34 weeks. But it's getting harder and harder to drive and get out of the car, so it worked out.
