Does this sound like he is trying to scam me?
I am selling something on craigslist and this is what he wrote me.
Hello,
Am interested in the item you advertised because i like the condition
you stated about it and I would like to make an outright purchase
immediately so i would want you withdraw the advert from the web.
Regarding the payment term,I can only for now pay you with a certified
check in U.S dollars so pls let me have the following informations so
that the payment can be made to you :
.Your full name to be on the check.
2.Your postal address.
3.Your postal code
4.Your mobile phone number (For easier comunications).
Kindly get me the above requested information as soon as possible.

I wrote back he cannot pick up the merchandise until the check clears. He responded back fine.
Something doesn't seem right.

Be careful! Craigslist has a disclaimer to be careful of people that say they will send you a certified check. Check the website.
Ignore the email.

Yes, it is a scam. I got the exact same email twice recently.
Now I put "CASH ONLY!!! NO SCAMS!!!" on my posts and it scares most of the weirdos away.

I agree it's a Scam, Dont accept any certified checks from him or give out your cell number, that is too fishy to me.

SCAM SCAM SCAM!! This actually happened to me ...and THANK GOD Chase caught on that the money order was stolen because once it cleared I would have owed the bank a lot of money!!!!! Turns out the people were in Nigeria...

ditto- the same thing happened to me last summer
the emails started out all nice and professional
then they sent a fake certified check- so real that citi bank cleared it for 3 weeks- then it bounced
STAY AWAY
if I didn't catch on I would have owed citi bank ALOT of money!
