Does this sound like reflux or just regular spitting up?

DD is 6 weeks old an has always been spitting up, but in the past week it's gotten worse. it used to just dribble down her cheek, but now it's more forceful. it's not shooting across the room, but it does come splashing out of her mouth. her voice has gotten hoarse over the past few days too. she spits up after every feeding and in between feedings too. (I'm EBF) Sometimes she also starts gulping and gagging out of nowhere, she even wakes up sometimes gagging or choking. Do you think I should bring her to the doctor or does it sound like normal spitting up? My DS never spit up so this is all new to me.

if she looks like she is in pain or is gagging while sleeping i would def take her just to be safe. sounds like reflux but hey im not a DR! that sounds very similar to what went on with my youngest dd. and she was diagnosed with reflux and put on meds. shes 6months now and has outgrown it. HTH

All of my kids have been spitter uppers so when DS came along I didnt find his spitting up to be a concern at all. What led me to believe that he had reflux, instead of just normal spitting up, was b/c he was uncomfortable if you laid him flat on his back.....At our peds recommendation we added rice cereal to his bottles and had him sleep on an incline. It helped tremendously. Obviously you cant add rice cereal to her bottles but you can do the incline and see if it helps.

She doesn't really seem to be in pain.
I already keep her on an incline and keep her upright after feedings. I also burp her frequently, but none of it seems to help.

It sounds like it could be reflux to me. DD had reflux and she didn't have any of the normal symptoms. The only symptoms that she had were spitting up more than an hour after feeding and twice in the middle of the night she had trouble breathing (her body would automatically stop inflow to the lungs to prevent the reflux from going into them).

The hoarse voice is definitley a symptom - it happens when the acid from the reflux irritates the vocal chords. We have a friend who's DD had that symptom.

My DD was a very happy spitter - never showed ANY signs of discomfort at all.

I am a huge believer in the "Mommy Voice" inside you and if you think something isn't right, get it checked out. After we took DD to the gastro, they put her on Zantac which actually made her worse. We switched to Axid and what a world of difference! Up until then I would be changing her (and myself) a few times a day.

my DD spits up ALOT...it can come out quite forceful at times...when she was on the reg. similac advace she was having projectile puke and was arching her back...we switched her to Isomil and it no longer goes across the room...she still does spit up a lot but atleast you can catch it most of the time...sometimes its sooooo much and other times its a little (for her anyway) it dosent stop from one feeding to another...ive told her doc. at every appt. and he isnt concerned since she gaining weight and is a very happy baby.

Def. bring it up with your DC ped. and see what they have to say, they will be able to give you the best advice!

I would call the ped. sounds like reflux, my son was doing the same things and is now on zantac.

it sounds like it could be reflux - esp. the hoarsenss. I would check with your ped and def keep her on an incline as much as you can. DD had BAD reflux that was diagnosed around that age, spit up so much, she wasn't gaining weight so we had to see a gastro specialist and put her on med. I'm so relieve to say - she's almost 8 months now and its MUCH better, we're weaning her off the med too

My DD was doing the same and when I took her to the dr they said it was reflux and put her on Zantac.....now she is doing much better and although she still spits up, its much better then it used to be.
