does water breaking have to be a gush? TMI
just felt fluid drip down my leg --- not a lot --- was that my water breaking???

I heard that unless you are laying down it is usually a drip down the leg. The baby acts like a cork when you are standing and stops the fluid from gushing out.

It could be a gush or it could be a slow leak....everybody is different. I was a huge gush, like a water balloon and my friend was a very slow drip down her leg! Good Luck!!!

with my first I never felt the water break but when I got up I had some leakage, with my second I felt a pop and even though I was laying down I felt some fluid come out... it was never a huge gush...

Mine was a gush but then again i was laying in the hosp bed I will say it was the weirdest feeling in the world!

oh gosh - im so nervous.
i called the dr - i have no contractions or anything - they said to come in at 5 to see if it was my water that broke.
AHH
knowing me it was prob sweat or something gross :)

It may have been.... it's different for every woman. If the trickle continues thoughout the day then it's definitely your water. Good luck!

Both times my water broke as a slow trickle and increasingly got worse. In lamaze I was told to do the following and it came in handy both times:
Go to the bathroom and completely empty your bladder, lean forward after you think you are done to make sure you get it all out. Go lay down on your side or sit down for about ten minutes and get up quickly. If you feel another trickle it is most likely your water.

Not everyone gushes but I sure did!  I got up in the middle of the night to let my dog outside and when I was about to get into bed my water broke and gushed and gushed and gushed. It was A LOT of fluid. For some people it's just a trickle, I guess it just depends.
