Does your back hurt from breastfeeding? I don't know if my posture is wrong.
My back is absolutely killing me. I'm almost certain it is from hunching over while breastfeeding.
Do other mothers have back pain due to breastfeeding or is my posture just wrong?
I swear the aches and pains never end!

Sometimes. I noticed I hunch over too. Maybe you could try laying down and nursing?

I thought I did. It was very sharp pain in my lower side back. Turned out it was a kidney infection!

my lactation consultant warned me on day 1 that you must lift the baby to the boob, don't hunch down.... your back will kill if you do the latter...
could you be doing that? If the boppy isn't high enough, wedge a pillow beneath it and the baby.....

I had severe back pain initially because I always sat on my bed while BF.
Then I started sitting on the sofa AND wedged a pillow under the boppy to raise DS to my boob and that helped tremendously!!!

I did, but mine turned out to be a herniated disc.

Re: Does your back hurt from breastfeeding? I don't know if my posture is wrong.
Are you using the Brest Friend still? And if so, did you tighten the strap to fit the area DIRECTLY BELOW your breasts? Don't do it the way they show in the picture on the card. My LC showed me that your breasts should sit "up" on the Brest Friend so that it's right there for the baby to latch.
I actually lean BACK in my glider while I BF and it has helped my back tremendously. Maybe ask DH to watch and see if there's a curve in your low back? You're probably hunching over and don't even realize it!
Trust me, BF should NOT hurt your back. Take it from someone who knows

Thanks for the tip! I will wedge a pillow between me and the boppy/breast friend pillow.

My biggest mistake was not getting a glider. I am going to try to order one this weekend. I went to BRU last week and didn't like the style of the gliders they had. At this point, I am more interested in comfort than design. I couldn't care less if the glider is an ugly color as long as it is comfortable.

don't feel you need a glider to not get a backache while BFing... I don't own one, and never needed it.... I BF'ed throughout maternity leave in bed (with a big pillow behind me) and on the couch.
It really just has to do with positioning the baby properly

Did you get BRU's latest coupon book? I think they have a 20% off coupon for glider/ottoman combos right now. Since I already knew I had back problem, we splurged on the Dutalier glider. But they have some other great ones that are much cheaper and very comfortable.
I hope your back starts to feel better!!!

At this point, I want the most comfortable glider I can get. I think it'd be nice for DH to rock DS when he bottle feeds DS too.
Is the Dutailer more comfortable than the Rock-a-Bye? I remember rocking in most of the gliders BRU had and had liked the Rock-a-Bye best but thought it was hideous looking and didn't want to put it in our living room, nursery, or our bedroom. Now I regret not purchasing it last week.
I did get the circular from BRU. I think the gliders are on sale if you buy BOTH the glider and ottoman. I wonder if I can use the 15% coupon to use on top of the already discounted sales price.

Then I highly recommend the Dutalier. I believe the set is even on sale for $598 or something like that. We paid about $800

We tried out all of the gliders at BRU. I thought the Dutailer was by far the most comfortable one. It's pricey, but worth it IMO.
