My dog growled at me a couple of times when he was a puppy. I was totally freaked out, but my trainer helped me understand his behavior and how to handle him. He's almost 2 years old and hasn't done it since.

She did when we first got her a couple of times when I tried to take something away - not anymore thought - I explained who was boss
When we play she does bark, jump around and play nibble, but no growling

he play barks and kind of whine/growls when he wants something...
or when he's angry with me...like when I won't share my dinner, or let him jump in the bathtub with me,
never seriously....

Yup but I just tell him to stop and he does, he's just usually playing when he does....yesterday I was on the computer and he sat down next to me looked up at me and just started growling at me. I just stared right back at him and said stop and his tail starting wagging and he jumped up on me....
He's just a brat who wanted some more attention...
ets: He HAS NEVER EVER shown teeth when he growls, its more like a growl under his breath like when he plays.

Yes. He's food agressive - so if you go near him when he's eating, he growls.

Casey growled at me ONCE and she got in big trouble for it. She was trying to get something under the couch and I was pulling her collar to stop her. Bad girl!

dharma does..... but in a weird way. shes not GROWLING at me....
it IS when i bother her. i think its just her awy of saying "ma, leave me alone". it doesnt make me feel threatened and she doesnt show teeth .... its actually kinda half haertedly too.
hard to explain.
