Does your newborn wake up or fall asleep after feeding?

Every time I feed him, he is wide awake for a few hours. Not crying or fussy, just awake. It's fine during the day but at night, not so much fun.
Don't know if it matters, but he is FF.

Megan fell asleep after feedings usually. At night, she would stay up for maybe a half hour, but we would put her back in the bassinet and let her coo and she would fall back. During the day, it depended. If we fed her right upon waking up, she wouldnt fall back to sleep. But if she was awake for a while, she would knock out towards the end of the feeding.

I don't know how your newborn is at night, but you might be able to put him down awake. When I feed my DD at night, she is awake when I put her back in the crib. She falls asleep within 10 minutes or so.

I also put her down awake during the day also after she has been up for a couple of hours. Usually by that point, I can tell she's had enough.

DS was able to distinguish night and day pretty quickly. When I fed him at night, I made sure the light was off (I used a light from another room) and that there was nothing stimulating for him. He always fell asleep after eating at night. During the day, he sometimes fell asleep after eating.

We try putting him in the bassinet in the dark and have it quiet, but he just makes noise and then starts crying. If you hold him, he may or may not fall asleep right away. Usually he's up, staring at me while I try not to fall asleep. He'll fall asleep about an hour or two later but then be up in 2 hours to eat again!
Everytime I think we've gotten some sort of schedule going on, he changes the rules!!
