Does your ped have the pediatric (under 3) dose of the Swine Flue Vaccine?
My ped had only gotten in the 3 and up version and didn't know if she was getting in the under 3 version.

No...mine doesnt think he is even going to get any swine flu vaccines until the end of November. He can't order them...they are being sent to dr's based on what the CDC thinks is needed. At the end of November, what's the point...ya know?

My Ped has them. They have the H1N1 Mist for kids 18 months to 4 yrs old. We live in CT though.

Yes. DD had her 12 month appt today and he offered (and suggested she receive) the H1N1 vaccine today. He has the shot, not the mist available.

My pediatrician only has the mist. He said they weren't sure they would be getting the vaccine at all.

I know they got something because they called yesterday and said they got the mist and are offereing it to parents of infants and that they expect the shot in a few days. DH and I can't take the mist since we have asthma. SO once the shot comes in.. we go get it. They did say that they are getting the baby one also.

He does (just the shot, he doesn't give the mist unless he absolutely has to - i.e. hemophelia, etc).

My ped has the shot, but not the mercury free one, he has been on the phone with the state the entire week to find out when he'll be getting that one so he can give that out to younger kids

I didnt realize they were making a mercury free one...thats good to know!
The thermisol free one is just in the under 3 pediatric version. The over 3 version has thermisol.

Yeah I was just referring to the mist. The shot is dead virus.

so, my ped recommends it but only has the mist which asthmatics can't take.
pulminologist said its too new, he's not doing it this year.
hmmmm....guess i will visit this again when there is a shot to be given.

hmmmm....guess i will visit this again when there is a shot to be given.
My ped said she received, directly from the government, 200 shots and 200 mists. She said they just send what they want and you take what you can get. That's why she didn't know if or when she would receive the pediatric shot for under 3 years old.
She also said that the vaccine is not new, that's why they were able to make it so fast... it's just the same regular flu shot with the seasonal strain taken out and the swine added in.
She recommends it. She also said she could give Thomas the 3 and up shot, and half the dose, and it would be OK even though it has thermisol in it because it has trace amounts and he's never had thermisol in anything else.
I would rather wait to see if she gets the pediatric dose... I think...
