dog adopt question (those with cats)

we have 2 cats, we rescued a year and half ago.. we want to get a dog...
we found a dog at a shelter we want who's 6 years old and seems pretty low key (althought they said no kids)...
would you get the dog?
how do you go about acclimating the dog to the cats and vice versa

for rescuing all those beautiful babies!!!

I've only experienced mixing cats w/ new cats. At first they were not happy (hissing and running away) After the initial 'newness' went away - they both took over different parts of the house. They were never best buddies, but they tolerated each other. It was fine.
