Dog Bites
I'm a dog lover and owner, but very aware of dogs when I encounter them. Even dogs that the owner says are "friendly." And obviously, when my little daughter is around, I am hyper vigilant. Why? Dog bite victims have some of the most gruesome injuries you can imagine. Permanent, raised, painful scars; nerve damage; emotional scarring...
Case law in New York has narrowed down how and when an owner is responsible. The goal is not to have a dog taken away or killed (except in certain circumstances), but to compensate the victim for pain and suffering, and make that owner more responsible.
If anyone you know has been the victim of a dog bite, call me to discuss.
