Re: Dog/Cat introduction advice please!

How old is Chloe? Does she have her claws? Has she ever seen or been around dogs before?

We got Casey (dog) when my cats were about 3. First few weeks they stayed away from her and watched her carefully. At the same time I had to teach her that they didn't want to play Chat Icon They still will bat at her from time to time with their claws in...

Best thing to do is gradually introduce them and I wouldn't leave them unsupervised for a while.

Are your BF's dogs playful or will they just sniff her and walk away?

Chloe is 6 and front declawed. She has always been an only child and a rather spoiled one as well! She loves people and playing and being pet. Sacha and Jaxson are 6 and 7. The St. Bernard wont play...will just sniff and call it a day. Jaxson is playful and very affectionate and loving.

So should I keep Chloe in a separate room for a while and only have supervised visits? what if chloe hisses and freaks...not sure what to do. How do I slowly get them used to eachother.

Thanks so much for the help!!

Re: Dog/Cat introduction advice please!

Well since Chloe doesn't have her claws (that would be my biggest concern) they should be ok - just watch Jaxson so he doesn't bat her around too much Chat Icon My cats get a good knocking around from Casey every now and then Chat Icon I would definitely do the supervised visits thing and then eventually leave them alone...let nature take its course and have them establish dominance. Believe it or not, my 20 lb cat is dominant over my 80 lb dog!!
