Dog people...Please help with suggestions
Hi there,
I have a 3 year old JRT. He is a nervous dog by natural and somewhat cowardly. Since I had my DD 4 1/2 months ago, he really seems to be having trouble adjusting to her being in the house. He paces, yelps, growls, circles and nips at her. He can't calm down. He will shake when I babytalk to her and with cower when I pet him as if I was going to hit him.
I am trying postive reinforcement with his good behavior as well as starting him on medication, Clomicalm. He has been taking a small dose of meds for a week but I haven't seen even the slightest change in him.
Is there anything I'm missing? Something I can do to help him adjust a little better? He's driving me crazy so IU can only imagine what is going on in his little body.

It definitely sounds like fear, poor pup. Would you consider consulting a trainer? That would be my suggestion. Good luck

does he have a dog bed, or a crate or any place that he normally lays down? you could try putting a blanket or a shirt of the babies in that spot, so that he's constantly surrounded by her smell....always make sure to talk in a calm voice, just be reassuring-it sounds like he's nervous with the baby....it may take him a little longer to get used to her...
