Dog Training Question
My husband and I rescued a dog last month. She is 1 1/2 years old. She is the sweetest dog and is great with kids. The only problem that we have been having is she likes to put her paws on the furniture when she is looking for attention. She doesn't jump on the furniture but she puts her front paws up. We don't want to her go on the furniture . We have been trying to teach her down but it doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions on how we can keep her off the furniture? I appreciate your input.

Re: Dog Training Question
We use "off" as opposed to "down" as "down" is supposed to be used to tell your dog to lie down - a very difficult command as it implies total submission.
Kuddos to you for RESCUING an ADULT dog!! Honestly, just front paws on the furniture?? That is pretty darn good!! I'd be pleased as punch!!
But try saying "Off" as you push the dog's paws off the furniture and maybe she'll get it.

Re: Dog Training Question
You could use a soda can with coins in it and shake the can and say "Off" when she puts her paws on the furniture. Congrats for adopting a doggie!!!
