Doggy Diarehea.... UPDATE!
The past 3 times Cooper has pooped it has been straight liquid diarehea (TMI and totally gross I know).
We've been giving him rice with breakfast and drinner but there has been no improvement. Any other suggestions??
Obvi if it doesn't get better soon we'll take him to the vet.
TIA!
Update! We took Coop to the vet yesterday and the vet said instantly that he was dehydrated (poor little guy... he's been drinking so much water, but pooping it all out ) and hooked him up to an IV for a few minutes to get some fluids pumping thru his system. He said to feed him rice and boiled chicken ONLY for the next few days and closely monitor his poop (yay for us!). Give him Pedialyte for the next few days as well (way to call that one Nancy!). He's on some meds (can't remember which ones) and relxing comfortably. His poop came back negative for any parasites (thank GOD!). And already his poop is starting to go back to normal but he's still a little woozy and out of it from being sick for the last few days.
Thanks for all of your help and suggestions!

Re: Doggy Diarehea
Call the vet. Let them know what is going o & tell them that you have tried the rice & it is not working. Is Cooper drinking more water? Peeing more? Did he get into the garbage or maybe eat something from outside?

Re: Doggy Diarehea
This happens sometimes to mine. In fact she is going through this right now. I think she got a hold of something and ate something she was not supposed to. I looked it up on the internet and they said to cut her food to about a 1/3/ of her normal feeding for two days to see if it gets better. I have done this and it worked.

Re: Doggy Diarehea
My dobie used to have this all the time...very sensitive stomach. When he did - I had to boil chopmeat and mix it with an equal amount of rice for a few days until his stool hardened up...

Re: Doggy Diarehea
Thanks for the suggestions.
Cooper definitely has a very sensitive stomach... We monitor everything he eats (the best we can) because any little change can really reek havok!
If by tomorrow his poop isn't any better, than I'll definitely call the vet.
PS... he's drinking normal and peeing normal and he definitely didn't get into the garbage (it's not out for him to get into to)... so we'll see.
Thanks!!!

Re: Doggy Diarehea
THis happened to POrter a few months back. Okay a little TMI but when he pooped, it was like a fire Hydrant Seriously. IT was water. I rushed him to the Emerg vet and they wanted to charge me 1300 just to keep him overnight and do tests. I said you know what i will call my vet at home in the AM> SO we took him home. I called my vet sunday morning and she told us to feed him boiled chicken or chop meat and i took him in on monday. Turns out he had Colitis. He is not on a special prescription diet from the vet. He needs more fiber in his diet. and if we dont give him the prescription food he goes diarreah right away. I would def call the vet. Hope Cooper feels better soon
