Dogs and me at the end of my pregnancy
Well, I am officially home from work and all weekend and today my dogs will not leave my side. I shower and they are in the bathroom. Its so weird. I keep asking them is there something they are trying to tell me? Did anyone else's dogs act weird towards the end of the pregnancy?

Re: Dogs and me at the end of my pregnancy
my cat acted strange with both pregnancies. She's very protective and cuddly with me when I'm pregnant. I don't remember her doing anything different right before I had my DD, but I was induced so maybe that's why!

I think that dogs can smell PG hormones. My friend's Border Collie used to smell her belly all the time when she was PG.

Re: Dogs and me at the end of my pregnancy
My dogs have been like this for most of my pregnancy. One of them is my shadow always following me around.
My cat has started acting weird. She meows at my stomach and has to lay right next to me. Yesterday she rubbed her head on my belly. I guess she is claiming the baby...

Re: Dogs and me at the end of my pregnancy
My dog is always extremely close to me, but yes, I think he has become even more so since I've been pregnant. And especially now toward the end. When we go for walks he doesn't like to walk too far ahead of me...even when he's off leash in the dog park...he's constantly looking back, and stopping to wait for me to catch up. I think he wants to make sure I'm OK!

My Pomeranian smells my belly from time to time. She has always been pretty protective over me and follows me everywhere so that isn't anything new.

Re: Dogs and me at the end of my pregnancy
i think dogs seem to sense what is going on. My dog is always next to me and always has been even before my pregnancy. Now when he cuddles with me on the bed, he has to curl up right next to my belly with his back pressing on it. Its cute.. whats not so cute, is he has been acting out and peeing in the house and it made me worried and i even brought him to the vet to check for diabetes which the tests all came back negative.. and the vet said it was probably out of spite since he didnt do it before I was pregnant. Funny how dogs can be.. Im sure your dog definitely knows what is going on

The same thing happened to me last night. My dog slept in bed with me, right up against my belly [if DH knew he was in the bed he'd flip!! Luckily he works nights! ] And then at 1:30am he gets up and decides to pee on the oriental carpet on DH's side!! The bathroom, that has newspaper down for him to go if he needs to is literally 10 feet from the bed!! Needless to say I was pisssed that I was cleaning up pee at 1:30am when I have to get up at 4am. It's funny b/c I just so happened to wake up right before he did it! I yelled at him and he went downstairs until 4am so I was sad that he wasn't sleeping next to me! I know I'm going to have a problem with my puppydog!

I totally think animals have some kind of "sixth sense" when it comes to things like this...
Dogs Rule!
