Doing a detailed budget for a client - am I missing anything??
I'm trying to give him a REALLY detailed list of his monthly expenses. I think a disservice in many budgets is they're not detailed enough and leave stuff out so people filling them out don't think of these smaller expenses that can add up. Then they can't understand why they have no money at the end of the month when their budget says they should. Can you think of anything I missed? It's a family of 4.
Home Mortgage or Rent payment 2nd Mortgage Home Equity Line/Loan Home Repairs/Maint Property Taxes (if not escrowed) Auto 1 Auto 2 Auto 3/Boat/Motorcycle Auto – Gas/Repairs/Maint Insurance – Auto Insurance – Life Insurance – Medical Utilities – Heat/Oil Utilities – Electric Utilities – Gas Utilities – Water Utilities – Home Phone/Fax Utilities – Cable Utilities – Internet Connection Cellular Phone Food – Groceries/Lunches Unsecured Debt Repayment (Credit Cards) Clothing Dry Cleaning Pets/Pet Care Personal Expenses (haircuts, etc.) Medical/Dental/Eye Care School/Childcare Savings 401K/Retirement/Investments Charity/Religious Tithe Recreation/Entertainment/Eating out Vacation Gifts (weddings, birthdays, showers, etc)
THANKS!!

I wasn't sure if I should put it separate or not - because I buy that stuff at the grocery store...

Does he have kids? What about registration fees for sports? And then there are collections for the coaches, etc.

Re: Doing a detailed budget for a client - am I missing anything??
Thanks ladies - I sent it to him and I HAD to mention this based on the other threads about recession, etc. He wanted to see if he could take another job because he works for himself and he's not doing well.
He filled out the budget and determined the expenses total over $150K, then he e-mails me he doesn't make that much and e-mails me again. One word: HELP.
"HELP"? What do you want ME to do about it?? I didn't buy the 2 luxury cars and the big house, etc... OK, sorry, my vent over…
