Donald Trump Casually Threatens To ‘Destroy’ The Career Of State Lawmaker
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-destroy-state-lawmaker_us_5899fde8e4b09bd304bdd5b9?
President Donald Trump threatened to “destroy” the career of a Texas state senator after a Texas sheriff accused the lawmaker of getting in his way by promoting asset forfeiture reform.
“Want to give his name? We’ll destroy his career,” Trump told Sheriff Harold Eavenson of Rockwall County, Texas. Trump’s comment was met with laughter and Eavenson declined to give the official’s name.
Trump made the remark during a listening session with county sheriffs at the White House. Eavenson is in line to become president of the National Sheriffs’ Association in June, the Dallas Morning News reported. ...
No, nothing authoritarianist about our current president....
And the WH and right-wing media will just gloss right over this like it's nothing. "Oh, he was just joking...."

Unreal. And I bet he will say it's fake news even though there's video.

His heart is a piece of coal.
He is a complete out of control lunatic. He's got to be stopped.

Why why why can he say and do whatever he wants? No matter how vile? Because the coal mines closed? This country is upside down.

I don't like that these very important, pervasively relevant to our lives discussions have been relegated to a specialty board.

Completely agree. Some people would just rather keep their heads in the sand. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

A lot of the topics posted here have nothing to do with politics. They have to do with our government and what is going on in this country as a whole.
Have they been moved from FHF or just originated here?

I don't think it would have been created if people were able to control themselves and not be so nasty. But as it was, things became hostile every time something was posted on FHF.

Actually, the biggest complaints were primarily about the number of threads, not what was in the individual posts (although, that was definitely a topic that was talked about).

Yes I would agree that it was taking up too much of the board. And maybe I'm one of those people who likes to bury my head in the sand but between the news, Facebook and here you just can not get away from TRUMP!!! Sometimes I just want a trump free day. Luckily no one in my real life discusses politics!

I know! He's 70! Why doesn't he ever need a nap! I'm like 30 years younger than him and I wouldn't be able to keep up with him.

I have to be honest - you mostly are just talking to yourselves here. But that's because a couple of posters were so rude to the few people who came on here to learn another perspective and have some friendly debates. To dismiss people by saying things like "Bye Felicia" is not a great way to get people to try to see your point of view. The only thing silencing you are those posters.

There are plenty of examples of the same from the other side as well.
You admitted your own delivery "may not be the best" in a different post.
I personally like the separate board because it eliminates the silly "enough already" type of posts. People are here because they want to have a discussion.
(What I'm about to say is not directed at you, just in general):
That being said, I will be the first to admit that I'm not interested in debating human rights. I don't know how to convince people to care about others. Regardless, I shouldn't have to.
Other things, like fiscal policy, etc. I can see a friendly debate on.
Whether a woman has the right to decide what happens to her own body, or whether two women who love each other should be able to marry? Nope. Not interested in "discussing" that.
Whether it's the travel board or the politics board, I have always said to make the boards what you want them to be. If there is something you think there could be friendly debate on, by all means post about it.
(Sorry for the hijack GR)

Not having the best deliver and being condescending (which I believe it was you that said I was being) is a walk in the park compared to some of the comments made to people on here both ways. But my favorite gems happened to be said by people who claim they are so open minded and concerned about others! lol

I don't recall calling you condescending. Several weeks ago I vaguely recall describing your words as disdainful, although I no longer recall context. I agree that others have done worse.
Open mindedness does not apply to hate and stupidity. (I am not saying you are hateful and/or stupid, but some people on here seem to be.)

Being passive aggressive isn't very helpful either. I mean just say what you are getting at and who you are talking about.
That being said, I think you need to have a bit of thick skin to come on this board. It's a message board, FFS. If you are going to get upset by a bye Felicia comment, then I think you have other things to worry about, TBH.

I completely agree. It doesn't even matter if you agree with the main posters as a whole-if you don't agree on every minute detail people attack in such a nasty way.

The inherent problem with electronic messaging is that there is no tone or context . Since people naturally read posts in the worst light possible, people took some innocuous posts and took personal offense. Then the "you're nasty" posts started and people started arguing.
I mean this in the nicest way possible. People asked for a a separate board, which TPTB granted. Now, some of those same people who complained are now complaining about the separate board.
No offense, but you can't have it both ways.

the Bye Felicia comment wasn't aimed at me. But I think you mean you probably don't have much else to worry about if that comment upsets you. I was just commenting that it was rude, which it was. That particular comment was made by Eliza. Sorry that I didn't specify earlier. I wasn't trying to be passive aggressive.

Yup. I said it. And I'd say it again. If you (whoever it was) want to throw a tantrum and huff and puff and announce your departure from posting on this board, well buh bye! It's really ridiculous. Just stop posting. What exactly are you (whoever it was) trying to accomplish by announcing you're no longer going to post here? Nothing. Time to move on. Lots of shit is going down and some people actually want to take action and do something before the ship sinks.

No, I meant that if Bye Felicia bothers you, then maybe this isn't the place for you.
I agree with what Pumpkin said. People complained about politics on the other board. They made a new board. Now people are complaining that we are nasty, which I don't understand how that tone can be seen on the Internet anyway.
People are generally upset about the situation and I don't think a "friendly" debate will really happen. I don't even see how a friendly debate is even possible as there tends to be some disagreement in a debate, which contradicts the friendly part, IMO.

I actually like the separate voice. I can scroll through FHF and see the everyday little problems, and then come here and see just the politics/government posts. It actually helps me put things in perspective a lot better.
