Don't call it a 'Chevy'!!
It's a Chevrolet, ok??? 
Chevrolet wants consistency in its branding and asks that when you are talking to your friends, you should refer to the car as a 'Chevrolet' not a 'Chevy'. Not that anyone in our generation says 'Chevy' anyway!!! But it's just the point...

All the past ad campaigns have been for Chevy, as in Chevy Nation.
Their website was even named Chevy.com.
The iphone app is Chevy.
I have never heard anyone refer to a Chevrolet. Even my foreign born parents called their station wagon the Chevy car.
I'm in my 40's and have friends in their 50's and 60's who also say Chevy.

I'm 35 and say Chevy.
My first car was a Chevy Beretta.
My second car was a Chevy Cavalier.
I can only think of one person I know of that drives a "Chevrolet", and even he calls it a Chevy Traverse.
It was a Chevy, is a Chevy, and always will be a Chevy to me.
