Re: DORMER KING - recs?
I went with an architect who wasn't tied to a contractor, since I was concerned about conflicts of interest. I may be totally wrong about it, but I was afraid that an architect might design things that were in the contractor's best interest, and not mine. Either building style, materials, etc. If I want a vaulted ceiling, but the contractor doesn't, would the architect try and talk me out of it?
I have an architect in Suffolk that I'm pleased with, and I'm currently in the process of interviewing contractors for my project.

Re: DORMER KING - recs?
we just went through this entire process.
The thing about hte vaulted ceilings is so true, contractors dont like doing them cause its extra extra work and money for those huge LVL's
i personally think an outside architect is going to draw up plans in your best interest. our house was built without cutting any corners, and the quality of hte build is amazing,
shop around first! i have reccomendations if you would like
my architect is
Mark Anthony Designs
My Contractor was A GC and his company is American Beauty, the owner is Ray Flarerty

Re: DORMER KING - recs?
I didn't use Dormer King but someone I work with said several people on his block have used them and are happy with the work. Sorry - no firsthand experience.
