Double stroller (sit and stand)
So another post about double strollers. I think I want a sit and stand type stroller so if you have any experience with the following could you please post a review:
Joovy Big Caboose Stand On Tandem Stroller $380 Graco Quatro Tour Duo Stroller $250-260 Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem Stroller $230 Baby Trend Sit and Stand $170 One Step Ahead Sit and Stand Elite $190
Also is the baby trend sit and stand the same one sold by one step ahead?
ETA: DS is almost 23 months and will be 26 months old when DD is born. He loves his pliko P3 and will sleep in the stroller. He is tall for his age, but skinny. 36 inches tall and 27 lbs.

Re: Double stroller (sit and stand)
I'm also on the hunt for the "right" double stroller for us. The only thing I've learned so far is that the Baby Trend Sit n Stand Elite (that can accommodate 2 seats, or the back seat can be removed to be the sit n stand part) does not safely accommodate my Graco infant carseat. According to the saleslady, the info says it does, but there is no way for the infant seat to "click" in the way it should in order to be safe. Also, with the Graco Duo, if you want your older child to recline, put them in the back b/c if the infant seat is in the back, the front seat won't recline.

Re: Double stroller (sit and stand)
I have the one step ahead one and so far I really like it. I haven't used it regularly in the stores yet - but have taken a few walks with it and walked with it around the corner to pick up a few things from an empty store (DD#2 is only 5 weeks old today). I have this one and the bumbleride indie twin. The only thing I don't love about it is that when you use two seats the basket is almost unaccessible except from the sides - which is a problem I think with any of the sit and stands. DD#1 does seem comfortable in it. My DD's are 23 months apart - and DD#1 just turned 2 on the 20th. I have several friends who have this stroller and continue to meet many moms who have it too - they all seem to like it. I have yet to talk to anyone who said that they didn't like it for one reason or another.
Edited to add - I have a snugride 32 and it is compatible - It snaps but it also comes with a strap that you use to secure the seat.

Re: Double stroller (sit and stand)
I've been testing them out myself in the stores. And I thought I really wanted the kolcraft b/c I liked the idea of being able to reverse the seats, but it's a PITA to fold it and it was impossibly heavy to lift and that's coming from a mom who had the Graco Quatro Tour so I'm not a wimp when it comes to heavy strollers. To fold it you have to remove both seats completely then the frame gets folded. What a project. Can't see myself doing all that regularly.

Me too re: reversing the seats. The guy in the store only removed one seat to fold it. You have the option to do both or one. However that can be a bit much.
UGH! Decisions Decisions

Which Graco seat do you have? I have the Graco Snugride & I guarantee you that it "clicks in" (clicks onto the tray when it is in a down position and I use the strap/buckle) in the front seat AND the backseat. I got my sit & stand at Target. It's wonderful because I can use both seats, put the baby in the infant carrier in the back & put my older DD in the front OR I can pop off the back seat & have my older DD stand with the infant carrier in the front.

Re: Double stroller (sit and stand)
Thanks everyone for your replies. This afternoon DH, DS and I went to BBB to look at double strollers.
Joovy Big Caboose Stand On Tandem Stroller $380 BBB does not have this as a floor model in the Totoaw, NJ store. They did have the single Joovy, and if you have a car seat in it either graco snugride or the peg perego the back seat is completely useless b/c the car seat encroaches the sitting down part. For me, that is not a good option.
Graco Quatro Tour Duo Stroller $250-260
They had this in the store. I was told exactly what pharmcat was told by the stroller store manager. The front seat only goes back as far as the cup holder in the second seat. While it is nice to fold, it is super heavy and killed my back, so it is out. Plus we used to have the singleton metrolite and that broke on us so I am extremely reluctant to get another greco stroller. I will get the greco car seat.
Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem Stroller $230 While this is not available at BBB in the store, it is available on line from BBB. The stroller store manager said he stopped carrying them b/c they were coming back within a month of purchase and completely broken so he would not recommend it. I think this is a fantastic idea in concept, it is a shame that its QC is not up to snuff.
Baby Trend Sit and Stand $170 This is apparently not carried at BBB so I could not test it out.
One Step Ahead Sit and Stand Elite $190
I did try the city mini double stroller as well as the peg perego aria twin.
City Mini It is a side by side and felt huge. It was a pia to close, but DS could sit in it and got a full recline. It was only 26 lbs which was a plus. I just did not love it.
Peg Perego Aria Twin This is a 60/40 side by side stroller. The infant seat goes into the 60% side. It is a slightly narrower profile than the city mini, but my DS looked like he was completely squished on his side so that nixed it for me.
I will still look at the Baby Trend sit and stand elite at BRU, but, after all of this, I think I am going to get a snap and go and DS is going to have to walk. I just do not have the back strength to lift the double stroller.

Re: Double stroller (sit and stand)
oh the joys of stroller shopping.
Call BRU before you make the trip. My store (Rte. 10, E. Hanover, NJ) does not carry the S&S Elite in the store but my Target does.

Re: Double stroller (sit and stand)
The Sit n Stand is great! If you have a carseat in the front, there's plenty of room for the toddler to sit in the back. Also, if you have the P3 once your DS gets older the little board on the back is perfect. My kids are pretty much the same age difference as yours and when DS was closer to 2 he wouldn't have been able to handle standing on the P3 (and I also still needed the option to be able to buckle him in), but now that he's older the P3 is all we use. I haven't used my Sit N Stand for months now because DS likes to walk and when he gets tired or we're walking longer distances he just hops on the back.

Re: Double stroller (sit and stand)
I just got the Joovy Ergo Caboose. Its came out recently and is much improved compared to the other caboose. It has air tires and the older DC sits in the front seat while the infant carrier snaps into the back portion. Baby #2 has not arrived yet but I have used it around the driveway and like it so far.
Oh and the front seat reclines even while the infant carrier is in. Later the stroller is a regular sit and stand.
