We went through this once before post 9/11. The market eventually rebounded.
The post 9/11 well is dry. Just my humble opinion.
I'm just saying we had a Dow that was under 8000 I believe at one point. We rebounded. Stocks came back up.
It may take time but it will rebound.
I can't believe one reporter on CNN actually said "We don't even know if we will be able to use our ATM cards".
Are you kidding me? 
The guy at Starbucks this morning hesitated taking my WAMU debit card. 
What an idiot...and there is a lot of people out there that are like that...clueless...
clueless and uneducated...
but people need to start PAYING attention.
I have close family members that had NO idea that Lehman and AIG went down and STILL had no idea about Wamu and the bailout.
This WILL affect things...people just need to start caring more and not waiting until it directly affects them.

They just said on the news that this is no where near a recession or The Great Depression. That day in 1929 the Dow dropped 23%.

I haven't been able to look at my protfolio for a few months, but we've been through worse - think 1987. I have to be hopeful that whatever the House does pass will spark buying again. Plus hopefully the Blue Chip companies will start buying their stocks up, which many do at times like these.
October is historically a down month - I know it hurts though...
