Dr Floor Opinions??
OK so we decided to open up the area where the dr is - when you first walk in the house you walk into the LR - on the back wall is a diamond shape whole which is to the DR - We were thinking of opening up the wall and make it a more open room - Here my dilema - the floor is the LR is hardwood flr and in the DR is carper - We cant to take the carpet out and add a floor but I think hardwood is too expensie - What do you think I should do??
Not open the wall or open it and then what floor.
Now keep in mind the DR is also off the kitchen which has a ceramic floor already -
HELP.....

Re: Dr Floor Opinions??
open the wall and add wood floors. you could also add decorative columns to separate the LR from the DR.
do you have pics?

Re: Dr Floor Opinions??
i am NOT i a fan of pergo, so IMO yes, it would look bad.
why can't you add real wood? you didn't post the room dimensions but assuming that it is an average sized DR (aprox 11 X 14) it probably would not be that expensive.

Re: Dr Floor Opinions??
It is an average size room - its line 10' x 19' give or take a little bit - but less then 200 sq feet.

Re: Dr Floor Opinions??
Do you know what's under the carpet? Is it possible that the same wood floor is under the carpeting as well?
I agree, don't rule out hardwood floors. Depending on the size of the room, they don't have to be expensive. If you're handy, you can save a ton by installing new wood floors yourself - it's not hard!
