Re: Dressing little girls in black
eh - it's your kid, you do what you want!
I don't get the whole thing about black - it's just a color. People were horrified that I had my bridesmaids were black ......... I don't know why it has such a negative stigma -

I like it for some things. I like a variety. ..pink, purple, blue and yes, black and gray on occasion.
Ita my girls were all colors including black and leopard. My oldest dd is wearing a black cardigan today with a gray skirt today and black boots. It's adorable and doesn't look drab at all.

Re: Dressing little girls in black
I love black and dress my DS and nieces in it since they were babies! But to each their own, I know a lot of people who wouldn't put kids in black.
My sister doesn't put her daughters in red. That's weird. Lol

Yeah and I have to say too, when it comes to girls, once they hit a certain age, in my case 2 years old, I had no more say in her clothes! SHE wants to wear pink and tutus every single day. And it's a battle I'd rather not fight. So if she says pink, if she says black if she says green and orange stripes, that is what she wears. I don't dress her anymore- she picks her own style!

Yes! I'm the LEAST girly-girl out there, but my daughter refuses the leave the house if she's not wearing something pink, or a tutu, or a crown. Usually all 3!

Re: Dressing little girls in black
I think it's all about personal taste Im currently pregnant with a girl and hate pink. I gravitate towards black, grays things with skulls etc. So anything DH and I will purchase for her will most likely be black. But I'm sure friends and family will purchase pink/purple stuff, although many are aware of my and DH's style. So who knows

Re: Dressing little girls in black
I love buying shoes and sneakers for DD so while those tend to be bright and flashy I keep her clothes more neutral. She wears a lot of black and always solid colors because the characters and sayings drive me nuts. We do animal print on occasion but I refuse to put my girls in anything that says "practically perfect", "pretty like mommy", "high maintenance", "diva" etc. It just feels stuck up, syrup-y, and sometimes downright rude. It doesn't bother me when others wear them though haha.
And don't get me started on the pink. I swore I wouldn't and have now changed my tune a bit but I do my best to at least find coral or fuchsia instead of pastel pink.

I think you and I are both old-fashioned. My mom has ingrained in me that little girls should not wear black. That said, I have dressed DD in it once or twice, and she looked adorable.
Exactly this!
I think you're right lol! I remember my grandmother frowning about me wearing a (modest) black cocktail dress to a sweet 16 when I was in high school.
My sister still complains that I was allowed to wear a black dress to my Sweet 16, while she had a frilly, lacy thing up to her neck 10 years prior.

Dressing little girls in black
ITA with the pink. I used to hate it, vowed that I'd never do it, and they are drowning in hot pink, light pink and all pinks in between I try to coordinate 1 pink 1 purple, but it is so hard. I'm on the fence about black. I don't always love it for them as babies, but as toddlers now, some things in black are cute. I think I'm more afraid of what my mom will say
