Driving to Fire Island?
Does the William Floyd Parkway let you drive to Fire Island from Shirley?

You can actually drive to FI, but not by the William Floyd Parkway.

Only service and emergency vehicles are allowed on the island
But technically, you can get to Fire Island by driving Robert Moses beach, parking in Field 5 and walking.
According to Wikipedia - you can get there by Wm Floyd Pkwy,

ah ok I see it on the map now, it takes you to Smith Point Park and that you cannot drive anywhere else on FI.

Because Wm Floyd Pkwy takes you directly to Smithpoint Park, which is Fire Island. YOu can't access any other part of Fire Island from there thought, just the beach/park there.

Thanks everyone! I was looking at a map and saw that the Wm. Floyd Pky. went to FI (to Smith's Point anyway) and wondered if I was seeing it correctly. Thanks for clearing that up!
