Drop off playdates?
DD has become "friends" with a little girl in her class. Both DD and the other girl ask almost every time we see them at drop/off pickup if they can have a playdate. The mom is very enthusiastic and has been the one to initiate scheduling. She asked if she could bring the younger child along, which I'm fine with. We've tried scheduling several times and she keeps flaking because of scheduling conflicts with the younger child.
Is it weird to suggest she can drop her daughter off? They are in kindergarten. She has met my DH several times, so there isn't anyone in the house she isn't familiar with. They want to decorate cookies and I would set up in the yard and have them wear masks (except to eat the cookies I guess).
I don't want to come off like some sort of lunatic but feel bad that these kids get their hopes up for nothing.

Drop off playdates?
I think that is a very nice suggestion. If the mom isn't comfortable with that, then the girls will have to wait it out. But, I'm sure the other mom doesn't want to suggest it because you are hosting and she doesn't want to put you on the spot to answer. Have fun cookie decorating when it happens. I hope you get lucky with a nice day like it has been!

Re: Drop off playdates?
If I knew the parents and been in the home at that age I was ok with short drop off playdates. It's fine to offer.

Re: Drop off playdates?
I think it's fine and would drop of my kids for a play date at that age. If the mom is uncomfortable, she will decline.

Drop off playdates?
I don’t find it strange at all since the parents know each other. Maybe send her pics/videos of the kids while decorating the cookies. I’m sure she’d appreciate that.

Drop off playdates?
I dont find it strange at all and pre covid I welcomed drop off playdates either at my house or at a friends. It meant I didnt have to "entertain" the parent at my house and also if it were at the other persons house it would give me some alone time while my child had fun with their friend. My kids started them in Kindergarten with families that I felt comfortable with (my second child started even younger). That being said, just make clear that it would be outdoors /,masks etc in case the hesitation is due to safety concerns.
